COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Pours a deep golden color with a finger of foam. Nose is a mixture of faint tropical hops, stale grass and earthy toasted malts. Palate follows with a round full mouthfeel thats almost jello like. Toasty malts, mango, earthy hay and old dusty dried grass. A bit underwhelming.

Fat på Monks. Ljus bärnstensfärgad vätska med vitt skum. Doftar mango och nätmelon. Wohoo vilken beska! Mycket besk med stor sötma och fruktighet. Välbalanserad. Ruggigt bra ipa!

Bottle. Would love to have this on tap from the brewery, but that’s not possible in Australia. Ok IPA, great body and tastes a bit like a nice earl grey tea mixed with an IPA, but most of the aroma hasn’t survived the trip to Australia (I presume). Not as good as some of the local IPA’s I’ve tried.

A fairly standard IPA with some accentuated floral flavors to it. Enjoyable, to say the least.

Shockingly good for an ipa. Bitter aftertaste. Commoner in the ipa style category. Lacks standout character. Pretty street. Commoner. Just like everyone else's. Why not standout from the pack? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled on March 3 and tasted on May 24...The aroma of this beer poured into a stout glass from a bomber is tantalizing and fresh, bringing apricot, mango and a nice strong hops. The soft, off-white head is small but tenacious, clinging to the sides of my glass and a nice contrast to the soft amber of the liquid inside. A median bitter, but long lasting on my tongue and nicely fizzy without feeling over carbonated. This is a most pleasant brew, nicely balanced, fruity but not too sweet, hoppy bitter and evenly balanced in all the experiences. Another go-to brew on my favorites list!
