San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

How could I resist this? This beer is just awesome. Perfectly balanced between bitterness and sweetness. I love this dominated fruity smell. Best beer I had today.

Aroma is dominated by hops, grapefruit and spruce. Just a bit of bready malt. Light copper or amber color with a fairly substantial white to off-white head. Clear. Taste is quite dry and quite bitter. Palate is interesting, fairly light body, really crisp and dry. Carbonation average. Finish is grapefruit and carbonation. Overall I like the crispness and dry bitterness. Definitely a hop bomb though, not much malt balance.

This is an awesome and balanced IPA. Good aroma of pine, hops, citrus. The flavor is mild with a nice and hoppy undertone. Alcohol is masked.

A hop bomb bouquet of fresh citrus with lots more on the palate, along with mango, peach and piney goodness. Deliciously bitter.

Color dorada, espuma de baja retencion. En aroma se sienten los lupulos en forma bien intensa, citricos. Cuerpo medio, con notas citricas y frutales, amargor bien equilibrado.

One of those legacy beers you always hope youíll stumble across - and it finally happened. Letís see how it matches up to the worldís IPAs. Nose of pine needles and mild orange. Flavour of sharp pine and orange rind. Decent stuff. Lasting head.

Violence! Itís like electricity in a glass. Itís all sharp edges, but still pretty easy to drink. Very very hoppy. Thatís really all I have to say. Itís pretty good though.
