3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Interesting beer. Thought I should try this as I like more balanced IPAs that have the malt backbone to support the hops.
The pour looked great, clear amber/copper color with white head and smelt strongly of malts, maybe a hint of piney hops in the nose, but mostly the caramel & breadiness of the malts broke through. Slight hint of grapefruit in the nose, but not as much as I would have liked.
Taste wise it wasnít at all what I was expecting, strong malt-forward beer here that had a strong caramel and breadiness/yeast like flavor with the grapefruit noticeable, but not dominate. For an IPA I was baffled as to how the hops had fallen to the back in this beer.
Mouthfeel is great, itís a very drinkable beer thatís very smooth, almost no bitterness to this beer, probably due to the lack of dominant hops. Light carbonation.
All-in-all a good solid beer, but not at all what I expected in a balanced IPA. Most of the time I think IPAs as overly hopped up and never would have figured thereíd be an IPA that was overly malted up.

Maybe my palate is numb due to so many high alcohol IPAs but I did not feel this beer had the sting that it describes. Lacking the sting does not take away from the balanced smooth drinking IPA that the beer is. I didnít find there to be any dominating or overwhelming flavors but I did find that the first sip was just as good as the last. As I move away from the double and triple IPAs, this beer will definitely be added to my rotation.

Poured from a can into a snifter. Pours a cloudy orange/amber with a small white head. Aroma consists of pine, resin, peach, mango, and tangerine. Taste is much the same with a nice and balanced malt backbone that does not take away from the hop flavors. It has a very nice dry bitterness on the end. Medium bodied brew with moderate carbonation and a sticky mouth feel. Amazing.

Poured a pretty clear light orange with good lacing. Very balanced in the mouth with decent malt to hold back the hops.

Aroma is all hops, very crisp, citrus, pine and herby notes. Flavor is sweet (like lemonade is sweet) but dominated by the tangy, tart hops, grapefruit, pine, grass and subtle earthy notes as well. Leaves the mouth with a wonderful tingly, pucker.

I never thought Iíd ever see this in my own hands but due to a local friend who went out of town and brought this back I have to thank him a ton.
This was poured into a nonic pint.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to slightly bronzed brown color. Thereís a nice looking big white foamy two finger head that dissipated to a rocky level for a sustainable moment but eventually dissipated to a fine lacing sticking and sliding at the same time.
The smell had a nice sticky sweet grapefruit, light lemon and pine running over some light caramel malt.
The taste was sweet and bitter with a fairly decent sweet piney to lemon bitterness over my taste buds.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. I would say this was fairly sessionable. The carbonation was good for the style and for me. Thereís a nice bitterness running over my tongue in a proper AIPA sort of way.
Overall, wow, this was a great AIPA that I could bang again. It came across in every good AIPA sort of way and has a good sessionability about it that could definitely go with itís respected food.

Bottle shared at a tasting at our place. Thanks Excellent Little Brother for the delivery! Clear amber. Crisp hoppy aroma, a little pine and dry onion. Bitter, crisp and a little green taste, medium-bodied, very soft carbonation, bitter and slightly oniony finish.
