COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Copper color. Somewhat frothy head. Aroma has strong grapefruit, pine, caramel. Some tropical fruit as well, like mango. Bitter like grapefruit pith (white part). Body is on the lighter side. Finishes off-dry, fairly clean. Very drinkable.

Just over three months old bottle, which is unfortunately the best we could ever hope for over here. Pours a deep gold with slight chill hazing and off-white head. Interesting bouquet with hot rubber, a bit like a vigorously used eraser, a dank quality like a moist dugout, some pine needles and tropical fruits, mostly mango. The palate is medium bodied with good freshness, pleasant, off-dry and round flavour with a very long bitterness which stays at a pleasant level throughout. Very nice.

Sculpin its a smell trip! From moment one you can tell but its flavour that is going to be a great beer. Its very hoppy, but its exotic hoppynness turns into a Maracuya trip! Medium bodied beer, very bitter, not for non bitter people, but the bitterness is mixed with the Maracuya moment that this Sculpin gives you. Nice creation from Ballast.

My favourite beer stateside, just fantastic. Too Strong, like most US IPAs, but lovely nonetheless.

Pours clear Amber with a good white head. A strong mango and resin aroma. Full-bodied with a powerful, deep bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the Tap House in Pangyo, South Korea. A little sticky and white head lasting quite long. Rich aromas of apricots and grassy grapefruits. Lovely palate and tastes amusing in whole mouth with a medium light body. Complex malt tastes between those two fruits. Suitable carbonation and bitterness run, finish with rich and propulsive hop-flavour. Really outstanding.

Cloudy, orange. Strong, citrus hops. A little pine and a little fruity. Well balanced and flavorful. Light, higher carbonation but not much after taste.

Tropical fruit and a hint of citrus aroma. Chewy toffee and a piney resinous bitterness. Ok, just not as fantastic as I recall. It could be the age of the beer..because it’s tasting like a shitload of other imported ipas... in that toffee, chewy taste.

Aroma lembrando manga. Gosto lembrando manga/maracujá com doce bem pronunciado e resguardando o amargor do estilo
