COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Bottle from Craft Beer Base. Golden colour with small head. Very hoppy aroma with some pine and herbs. Same when you drink it, very smooth, nice finish.

Nicely carbonated and clear golden in color. The aroma is of citrus, hops, and lite sweet malts. A simple, balanced, and perfect IPA. The flavor matches the aroma. The finish has a mild bitterness that is very pleasant. It doesnít linger either. Overall this is an excellent beverage to try.

Pretty much the perfect IPA, plus itís always readily available. Sturdy enough malt backbone that lets bright apricot and citrus shine.

A medium golden color with two fingers of white head. A floral hop scent with something akin to a wood scent, some citrus notes. A carbonated bitter upfront with some spiciness that gives way to a little bit of caramel backbone but not enough for me, bitter lingers on tongue, very little sweet character. Decent but nothing special. Need to try a fresher bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromatics are lovely and very "light" in hops lots of citrus and bright fruits. Just a lovely smelling beer. Those aromatics are replicated in a super balanced taste lots of grapefruit and mild bitterness.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 This is like a comfortable cardigan, a bit thin in places. Draft and highly anticipated and recommend. It is something Iíd happily drink a lot of in a session. But it is safe. I was expecting something more aggressive, or peaky in the profile, and I got a very very good, easy drinking safe beer. 2nd January I had this again in a bottle. Iíve thought about this, and this really is a good beer, and to be enjoyed. I think I was harsh in my previous thinking, lumping this in íthe packí when itís one of the leaders. I gave myself an uppercut.

Golden clear, white foam. Aroma of tropical fruit, papaya and mango. Fantastic! Long and global mouth: malt notes, bread and grassy notes!!! Fantastic! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle, although Iíve had it from growler as well. Beautiful amber hue, and great carbonation, very fresh at time of sampling. So much citrus intermingling with the resin aroma, little bit of a tropical note. Very well balanced, hop profile goes right through the palate start to finish.

There are aromas of apricot, mango, a small scent of lemon and other hops. It is golden in color, light carbonation, with some lacing with a white head. The taste is a combination of hops, apricot flavors, and a hint of lemon with a crisp biting finish.
