COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

On tap at Capone's in Norristown, PA. Actually tried this a few months after first trying the Habanero Sculpin, which was a beer I loved. It was nice to try this without the spice. Definitely a top tier IPA.

Awesome blond beer. Great smell, very complex. Rich, deep taste. Absolute not watery. Very nice.

Keg at Deep Ellum with my dinner. Pours a crystal clear golden amber, nice half inch white head that holds nicely, and leaves excellent lacing. Very piney nose, with plenty accompanying fruitiness - grapefruit and papaya to the fore. Some nice light caramel maltiness present too. A delicate caramel malt sweetness is followed by a pretty prominent hop bite, with nice citric flavour. Dry finish, very dry in fact, with a slightly unpleasant yeasty aftertaste, that lasts. Nice prickly carbonation, medium body and a decent boozy presence make up for it though. Not as overwhelmingly complex as I expected, but pretty darn good as far as ipa goes.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2013 Had at The Union, Encinitas CA. Delicious. Perfectly balanced IPA. Pours yellow orange, clear. minimal head. Intense hops on the first sip then mellows out. A unique floral hop notes linger on the palate, slightly spicy and like nothing i have ever tasted. A great high powered session IPA. Highly addictive and perfection at its best. Bravo! 6-Pack in NJ, poured same clear yellow orange, minimal head. Same great freshness and flavors. It travels well, not cheap $14.99 for 6 12oz bottles. Well worth it. A flawless IPA

Excellent IPA. Astringent, piney, grapefruit, light malts, fruity. Really good. Great example of a really well-showcased hoppppy beer.

Had on tap. Fairly minimal carbonation and lacing. Amber-colored, hoppy, but not as strong as I’d expected based on its billing as a "Double IPA". Not really anything special, but a good IPA.

10/26/12. Bought 2 $3.39 bottles from CBO and was my first beer at wasabi. Rated as one of the highest ipa's out there and I agree. Hazy gold with a very long-lasting full head. Very strong citrusy aroma and the taste follows the nose. Heading to My Favorites! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Pizzeria Uno Bensalem. Surprisingly nice light color. Aroma is pine and citrus. Very little head. Taste is wonderful. It has a very upfront hop kick that isn’t overbearing, and doesn’t stay thick or harsh on your palate. Brought me joy.
