COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Mycket svag doft. Ren torr IPA med viss metall i smaken..Lagom humlad. . Saknar dock frukt å fyllighet för att bli en perfekt IPA. Svenska bryggare hämta inspiration här.

12 oz bottle from New Seasons - Golden orange with a white head. Aromas of citrus, perhaps a little peach. Great balance between the bitter hops and enough malt backbone to keep it interesting. This is a really good beer.

On tap. Clear Golden pour, minimal White head. Hoppy Nose, with a little yeast. Taste is crisp and hoppy, clear notes of citrus. Medium body, average carbonation.

Bottle@konttori. Light copper color with a small silky head. Aroma is earthy with some pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is malty with long bitter and a bit sweet aftertaste. Flavors of malt, grape, pine, nuts. Very nice aftertaste.

Grapefruit hoppy aroma come from this clear pale yellow brew. Sweet grapefruit taste with an underlying bitterness which combines well with the light body and crispness of this ipa

Had this on tap. Really solid IPA. Dry and piney. Decent bitterness. Not much malt, which I like. I could a lot of this brew. As far as IPA goes this one fits the bill for me.

From San Diego. Bright translucent orange-copper with small watery white head. Lots of fruit in the smell - mango, pineapple, citrus. Tastes of fruity bitter hop and malt with a long slightly spicy finish. More malt and less hop than I expected. Body is crisp but juicy. Not very big and quite malty for an IPA but still very tasty.

Thanks to toncatcher! A solid IPA but really doesn’t quite warrant its reputation. Great, not excellent.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber into a Duvel tulip. Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger foamy white head. Excellent lacing. Smell: Pine and grapefruit with subtle notes of orange, tangerine, mango and pineapple. Smells amazing. Probably the best IPA aroma I’ve ever smelled. Taste: Pink grapefruit up front followed by orange and lemon in the middle then ending with resinous pine at the finish. There is a hint of caramel malt in the background. Aftertaste is a mix of bitter lemon peel, pink grapefruit and fresh orange. The taste doesn’t feature much of the sweetness that I expected coming from the aroma. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a nice amount of carbonation. Goes down very smooth. Hops are very sticky. Drinkability: High drinkability. After finishing a bomber, I could see coming back for seconds. Overall: Excellent IPA overall. This is a must try for any hop head. I’ll definitely be buying more once we get a distributor down here in Fort Myers.
