San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

A- Pours a golden hue with a nice, 2 finger, frothy off white head that is extremely chunky. S- Deep citrus fruits, mango, floral notes, grapefruit. T- Starts off light, floral hops, lots of grapefruit and tangerine on the back end with a deep bitterness. M- Medium bodied with carbonation that is a little too low. D- Very easy to drink. One of the best smelling IPAs out there. at 8.99 a bomber for an IPA it’s definitely a once in a while thing.

Bomber shared with and thanks to Axilla. Poured slightly cloudy orangish in color with a nice off white sticky head that left great lacing on the glass. Aroma is very piney and floral with a nice sweetness to back it up. Tastes of sweet american hops, grapefruit, piney, resin, with a nice caramel malt backbone. Very fantastic and drinkable IPA.

Poured from a bottle into dogfish ipa glass. Golden orange clean appearance with a hearty white head. Smells very heavy on pine with citrus overtones. Fruit is in the background too, apricot I think? Bitter front that gets a bit malty, then more fruit and citrus, mostly grapefruit, into a bitter finish. Nice, crisp, refreshing, balanced.

Magnifique mousse assez durable. Bravo!

Medium bodied, medium carbonated. Taste starts bitter with a balanced biscuit sweetness and great fruitiness Mango, grapefruit, tangerine and bitter orange. Honey and some caramel sweetness. Asserive grapefruit bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable and well balanced.
