COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Pleasant aroma of citrus, almost floral, hops. Hazy golden appearance with a nice white head. Extremely smooth on the palate with a light bitterness. Medium to full-bodied, very slick, citrus hops dominate the flavor. $10 for 22oz. and worth every penny.

Finally in Maryland!! Been waiting a long time for this one. 22oz bomber into a craft glass. The pour is a very clear, light golden color. Aroma makes my mouth water. Peach blasts the nose right away. I get citrus and tropical notes as well. Mouth is also blasted with peach right off the line. Solid hop bitterness throughout. Nice resin character and slight dryness in the finish. Superb IPA! Now I must find a way to try AleSmith’s.

The crystal clear amber color. The nose was the one and only thing fell a tad short on this awesome brew. Loved the taste bud killing bitterness! No words can describe the hop flavor, perfect! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours golden with a thick white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma is subtle with hints of lemon citrus, apricot and perhaps a touch of mango. Body is quite light with a medium to low carbonation. Taste is lovely with lots of citrus characters with a subtle dry bitter finish. Such an approachable IPA. Smooth and crisp and just Awesome !

The day after having their big eye. This one is definitely different enough to justify having 2 IPA’s. More piney and nutty than big eye. Hops are less dank, but are more unique and piney. Average to high avg bitterness for the style. Defiinitely very citrusy. Probably the most citrusy IPA I’ve had in awhile, which sets this one apart very well. I enjoyed this one and understand why it is sometimes sold out.

Bottle. Pours light golden color with one finger white head. There is an immediate nose of pine needles and lemon rinds. The mouthfeel is light but compliments the hoppy characters very well. The malts form the perfect canvas for the palate to fully appreciate the hop complexity. There is a light sugary-sweetness that finishes this drink off. Great IPA

Hazy orange pour with little to white-beaded head. Fruity aroma. Very tart with a crisp hoppy apricot finish.

Very hoppy. Clearish yellow citrus taste. Drank from a bomber. A decent beer.

Definitely a more citrusy IPA. Lacks the richness of a malt balance, but delivers delightfully bitter hops and excellent mouthfeel. The crisp hops are faint up front, but slowly permeate every corner of the pallet. A little too much alcohol for me, but nicely done. overall

Pours gold with a white head and good lacing. Citrus aromas of grapefruit and a hint of lemon. Smooth flavor that’s balanced and not too hoppy.
