COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Beautiful IPA, light amber color with a huge citrus aroma. taste is citrusy, floral, but balanced and delicious with a dry bitter, but not overdone finish. Not usually available in rural MN, very glad I got to try this one!

Pours a golden honey color with a frothy cream-colored head. Nice retention and great lacing. Aroma is apricot, pineapple, honey, peach, tangerine, and floral notes; a pleasant aroma thatís very inviting. This beer is very crisp and refreshing. Flavor starts off with nice sweet citrusy notes, tangerine, mango, and pineapple, followed up by the perfect amount of hoppiness and spice as it lingers on the tongue. This is as perfectly balanced an IPA Iíve ever had. Mouthfeel is thinner than youíd expect for an IPA with this flavor profile. Usually they are a little on the thicker and more syrupy side. This one isnít, and thatís not a bad thing at all. Itís perfectly carbonated and the thinner mouthfeel just adds to the experience as itís plays off that crisp and refreshing aspect of the beer that makes it a homerun in the aroma and flavor department. Overall this might very well be the best IPA Iíve ever tried. Itís different than I expected, but in a very good way. I love this beer. If you like IPAs, this is a must buy.

Crystal clear copper pour and a soapy thin head. Peach aroma mixes with herbal hops. Silk smooth palate. The hops in this have real bite, i love bitter but these are almost metallic. Overall, im disappointed, heard great things but this reminds me of a sav hopped disaster, hmmm maybe amarillo isnt for me either. This must be an off bottle, im struggling to get much out of it.

Pours a handsome golden color with a slight orange hue. Limited head. Beautiful citrus smells. Floral scents and fresh grass also come through. Crisp hop flavors include grapefruit and pine. Extremely drinkable, very refreshing. Me gusto mucho.

22 oz bottle. Poured a some kind of dark gold, but clear with a smallish head that dissipated rapidly. The aroma escapes me but there is no mistaking the potent bite of this fish! If you donít like strong tasting left coast IPAís you better stay away. In a place where a good IPA is hard to come by (Maui) this is a real treat.
