COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Bottle acquired from a trade with stefanje, thanks much. This beer is everything I look for in an IPA. Very well balanaced, with a fantastic hop profile. Sadly, I have only one bottle.

Citrusy and fruity aroma. A very crisp clean malt profile. Followed by a wonderful hop bitterness that doesn't punch you in the face. A wonderful west coast style ipa. This was one of the first ipa's that defined the style and it's still one of the best!

On tap at Mountain Sun’s durring their Hop Havrest Month. This is a great IPA with all of the charachteristics I like. Great citrus aroma, ton’s of hop flavor and a nice bitter finish that keeps the taste lingering. Ballast Point has really improved their beers over the years.

Bottle: sets the standard for an IPA whether west coast or not. Golden straw colored appearance. Fruity aroma and a taste that wonderfully balances sweetness and hops! Gold medal at my house! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Strong citrusy grapefruit aroma. This IPA is smooth for 7% ABV with an amazing hop flavor throughout. One of the better IPA's I've tried. Amazingly citrusy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful golden amber color capped by a white, frothy, lasting head. Aromas and flavors of pine, citrus, mango, pineapple, kiwi and other tropical fruits. Substantial bitterness, but not the least bit harsh. Medium bodied with some bready malt which supports the tropical fruits perfectly.

650ml bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours golden with a thick white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma is subtle with hints of lemon citrus, apricot and perhaps a touch of mango. Body is quite light with a medium to low carbonation. Taste is lovely with lots of citrus characters with a subtle dry bitter finish. Such an approachable IPA. Smooth and crisp and just Awesome !

March Madness 2015 - Light and fruity; I would not have thought of this as an IPA. Not crazy hoppy and bitter like most IPAs though.

A - pale yellow. Ar - Peaches, mangoes, limes, lots of fruity lusciousness. T - Delicate but with a lovely hop balance. Superb. Shows how big hop beers don’t need to be massive malt monsters, but can show poise and verve. Awesomely good beer
