San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Bottle. Hazy copper with a medium sized good lacing diminishing white head. Nose has pine, candied citrus, honey, hay, grain. Flavour follows the same lines; pine, grapefruit, candied citrus, grain, light white bread, apricot, peach, light alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fine carbonation, medium sweet and bitter. Fine mouthfeel, good balance.

Strong citrus and floral aromas galore! Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange colour with a finger of off-white head. Mildly sweet with some lingering bitterness, but not over-powering. This brew truly is a delight.

Pours a hazy orange/red colour, aroma is delicious with tons of grapefruit, citrus, mango, lychee, passionfruit etc. Real fruity and nice! Flavor has tons of fruit; citrus, mango, peach! The finish has quite the hefty bitterness kick to it, but balances this beer out nicely. Delicious!

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, pine, caramel. Thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A 22 fl oz bomber with a bottled code date of 15063 which means 4th March 2015, and poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. The beer poured a very nice clear golden orange colour with a two and a half finger white head that dissipates slowly leaving a thin foamy layer and thick lacing. Nice strong aromas with tropical mango and peach strongest followed by apricot, citrus orange and some pine. Taste starts with citrus grapefruit and some light bready malts, followed by tropical fruits mainly mango, apricot and pineapple, hints of pine and finishes with bitter grapefruit once more. Medium bodied with medium carbonation and very refreshing Overall, a stunning beer. Loved it. One of the best IPA’s out there in my opinion. A definite must buy for me. And now I just need to try an even fresher version.

Aroma süßlich, mit Pfirsich, weißer Traube und einem Hauch Handseife. Geschmack dann aber im Gegensatz zu vielen IPAs dann aber nicht seifig, sehr fruchtig, ausgewogene Bittere.
