San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Had this on tap. Really solid IPA. Dry and piney. Decent bitterness. Not much malt, which I like. I could a lot of this brew. As far as IPA goes this one fits the bill for me.

Tasted from a 12oz can. It poured a clear amber hue that was quite effervescent, with a frothy head that left streaky lacing. A pleasing hoped orange nose with kicking hops on the taste buds. Thanks to the dude who recommended this to me while pondering my beer purchase. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A beautiful copper colouer beer with a thin off-white head that long lastes. Mod. intensive aroma with notes of caramel, pine, apricot. Very good balanced crispy-malty sweetnes with a mod. hoppy bitterness. Lively carbonation, creamy texture. Very good one!

Ottima.

A great IPA! From a freshly tapped keg, pours a lighter orange color with a nice frothy head. Tropical fruit aroma, not much malt backbone. Smooth, fruity, not harsh on the palate, grapefruit, mango, no piney hoppiness. Refreshing and not too bitter for an IPA, distinctive. Again, not much malt but is quite enjoyable as it is. I will drink this again!

Great nose and a good initial taste with an acceptable body but quite a poor finish and aftertaste was lacking.
