COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

People always told me to try this and for whatever reason I never have. Very happy I just did. Havenít smelled/tasted this much melon in anything else except Maine Beer Co. "Another One." Wish it had a brewed on date.

This is my favorite IPA. I love Heady Topper, 90 Minute, etc., but this is as good as a beer gets, in my opinion. So great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fantastic IPA. Citrus and grapefruit in the nose, great aroma. Taste is more citrus, slight fruity bitterness but not overpowering. Great drinking IPA, probably one of the best I've had.

Uma das melhores IPA's que provei, aroma bem cítrico, puxando mais pro abacaxi, bom amargor, retrogosto lupulado

Hell yeah. Ballast Pointís ale tastes every bit as aggressive as a West Coast IPA should, yet it has more balance than some of its peers. The aromas and flavors meld together with pine, spruce, grapefruit, resin, and the subtle juiciness overripe tropical fruits. The balance between malts and hops is fantastic. You get just a hint of biscuit taste among the bitterness. Thereís also a note of earthy, grassy sweetness. While these kinds of IPA have become extremely common, Sculpin shares the stage with a select few ales that truly embody the West Coast art of hoppy beer.

Beautiful golden amber color capped by a white, frothy, lasting head. Aromas and flavors of pine, citrus, mango, pineapple, kiwi and other tropical fruits. Substantial bitterness, but not the least bit harsh. Medium bodied with some bready malt which supports the tropical fruits perfectly.
