COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

On tap at Cole’s in Buffalo. Pours light and clear with almost no head at all. Aroma is strong and delicious with citrus and very hoppy. Taste has a very mild bitter to it with the big citrus notes coming through.

There are aromas of apricot, mango, a small scent of lemon and other hops. It is golden in color, light carbonation, with some lacing with a white head. The taste is a combination of hops, apricot flavors, and a hint of lemon with a crisp biting finish.

Bottle from DandyWolfFloyd, thank you sir! Pours a slightly hazy golden hue with a white head. Aromas of citrus peel and some nice floral notes. Flavor is grapefruit peel at first with a nice resinous hop character in the finish. This beer deserves the reputation it has for sure. A very nice hoppy IPA. Definitely interested in trying others from this brewery!

Nearly perfect. Surprised at the lighter color and small head but lacing and retention is impressive. Lemon dominates for both aroma and flavors. Bitterness is well done and not too overwhelming.

@Basunen: trevlig men något diskret doft. Ok smak men ganska len små frukt och humletoner. Trött? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. One of the best. Pours pretty clear orange golden color. Nose is juicy tropical fruit and pineapple. Maybe some pine in the aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a white head. Big citrus pop on the nose with orange and grapefruit, piney resiny hops. Flavor has citrusy sweetness up front with a big piney bitterness on the back of the tongue. Nice spiciness with the hops to give an extra kick and plenty of earthy sweet malt to tame it a bit. A bit if an alcohol kick on the way down. Good IPA, but a bit overrated.

Clear orange. White foam. Sweet grape fruit on the nose. Lots of bitter grape fruit and grassy harsh hops. Medium body. Very nice but a little too harsh for my taste.
