Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

The nose has elements of citrus fruit, dank grapefruit and sweet malt. This IPA has a lot going on, with some sweetness, caramel malt and fresh, hoppiness. Grapefruit with a touch of orange and lemon with a clinging bitterness at the end. It is a touch oily (in a good way) with a sold blend and laudable freshness.

Pours a light translucent gold with a big frothy white head. The grapefruit hits the nose immediately. Strong hoppy pine sits just under. First taste is bitter hops, followed immediately by the sweet/sour grapefruit. It’s a really unique flavor, and I like it a lot, although it is just a smidge more bitter than I generally like.

From a bottle it pours a golden yellow color with a large head. The nose has grapefruit, hops and flowers. Taste has more tropical fruit, pine, lemon zest and some pine. Big beer that is well balanced.

Very easy drinking IPA with strong citrus hints. Not bitter or sour at all with a nice medium body.

Wasn’t blown away by this, but it grew on me as I finished the bottle. Poured in tulip glass. Classic ipa nose, grapefruit not pronounced at all. On the palate, it’s smoother than most ipa beers are. However I can’t pick out any grapefruit notes that are outside the regular sculpin.

Gyllengul öl med vitt skum. Doft av karamell, persika och grapefrukt. I smaken försvinner persikan.

Single can from Trader Joe’s. Unlike the fruity nose of the Pineapple Sculpin, this beer let loose an assault of hops that hold mostly pine, but then there’s a citrus backing that could be hops, could be grapefruit. Same light golden malt color as their regular IPA. Taste is still the big hoppy punch of their regular Sculpin. The grapefruit juice note does make itself known about halfway in. Just an extra touch that adds to the citrus note of this Ballast Point hop bomb.

Can poured into pilsner glass. Pours a crystal clear amber with abundant white head, nice lacing. Smells heavily of sweet orange. Heavy grapefruit taste. Realizing that I prefer the standard sculpin over this one real quick. This isn’t bad, but it totally reminds me of those chocolate covered orange-filled candies.

The beer is ready to go in the yellow / red color. The foam is white with small bubbles. The foam disappears leisurely quickly and leave fine traces. Aromas of grapefruit, jasmine, hops, flowers. A little citrus and orange. Tall in the background, slightly malty. Taste of a hop bomb decreases of grapefruit that is growing up. Some citrus and orange blossom, jasmine, flowers. Malty sweetness, bitterness will humlig at the end as it should. Plump body, with associated bitterness and bitterness at the end. Medium carbonation. The beer turns into a fruit bomb with grapefruit in the main event.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark golden in color. Aroma of grapefruit, jasmine, touch of pine. Flavor is grapefruit, floral, hint of pine. Has an awesome grapefruit flavor without being overly tart or sweet.
