3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
bottle enjoyed at home, after the regular sculpin, poured a deep clear orange colour with a white head. nose is grapefruit (ofcourse) upfront, maybe a bit overwelming, there’s a note of some refreshing citrus or lime, some biscuit malts, some more piine hop bitterness compared to the regular, while there were different juicy flavors in the regular sculpin, there’s only one main focus here, not a improvement if you ask me..

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. This is exactly what is says it is. Grapefruit is the focus, but not to the point where it is a fruit juice or fruit beer. There is some pine hop character as well as bready malts. This seems a bit thin for the abv and there is an astringent dryness in the finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from a six pack purchased at RedStone Liquors, Stoneham, MA. The appearance is a clear gold with lasting head retention. The aroma is just damn good! Grapefruit, citrus peel and maybe even a peach type hint, juicy fruits.
This would have been nice to try right next to the base Sculpin since it has bee a long while since I sampled and rated the base IPA. (July 22, 2013 on draft at a NY Brewfest)
The juicy fruit is lasting throughout the sip with grapefruit the main player. Still enough malt to provide some balance with a moderate lingering bitterness after the swallow with the grapefruit lasting for days. The fruit is done so well I have to score this a 4. Glad I have a few more cans to sip.

På flarra. Ljus ren .

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Directly from the bottle. Very delicate grapefruit zest aroma. Moutfeel was light but with too much carbonation. Really the only ding I have on this beer. Taste is very smooth. Just so...... smooth. The hops are just a touch bitter but mainly tropical fruit flavorful. And the grapefruit takes a second to come out, but when you taste it, it’s just so well integrated with the rest of the flavors in the beer. Damn. I’m actually not a huge fan of regular Sculpin. Good beer but way overpriced with plenty better. But the grapefruit version is fantastic!

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2015 12oz can, poured into a hurricane glass. The aroma is a bright, fresh grapefruit with muffins (the muffins fade), an undertone of lemon lime soda, and a hint of grassy spice. The beer is a brilliant, effervescent gold with and off-white, big foam head that leaves good lace and has good retention. The taste is a bright, fruity, medium high sweet with a mellow, supporting medium citrus bitter. The beer is fluffy, creamy, and oily thin with a medium body. The initial palate is of bread crust, grapefruits, and crisp lemon lime that finishes with a sweet citrus zip and a touch of honey and leaves a mellow aftertaste that?s lightly cloying, astringent, and dry with grapefruit rind and pine notes that linger. It?s not so much a fruity beer, as a beer with fruit; and because it?s grapefruit, it serves to give the IPA a natural juicy kick. Very refreshing, very dangerous at 7%

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($2.25): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is grapefruit (real grapefruit, not hop grapefruit, or rather it might be hard to tell the difference between the two), and some pale malts. It seems to me that the grapefruit attenuates the IPA aroma. Taste is very lightly bitter. Grapefruit is obviously the most powerful flavor. Very smooth and very easy to drink. Aftertaste is kind of bitter, but not too much. I don’t think that this is mind blowing or anything.
