COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sea Monster Imperial Stout is a new version of an old favorite. This hearty stout is black as the abyss and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV, a real monster. The flavors of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate are complamented by a velvety smoothness from the addition of un-malted barley and oats. Colombus and Amarillo hops help to balance out the huge malt character of this flavor bomb. Be careful the alcohol is well hidden and will sneak up on you if you donít watch out. Like most scary monsters, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear.

It had some bitter almost sour aromas coming out of it but coffee and chocolate were also present. It poured a thick dark black with no head. The taste was very bitter and dry. The alcohol is well hidden though. For the most part I didnít enjoy it, too bitter for a stout in my opinion.

Impenetrably black with a rocky covering of mocha coloured head that seems to be reluctantly subsiding in my glass. There are the traditional stout aromas of coffee, molasses and dusty dark chocolate, but this carries with these an aroma of maple leaves and mellow green hoppiness. In fact, the flavour offers up green spruce, oranges and orange lobes, nectarine and even kiwifruit. The body is medium and mostly disguises the heavy hitting alcohol. It is an iron fist in a velvet glove, but there are hints, because the glove wearer looks like Mike Tyson and is sniggering before walloping you in the face. The finish is juicy but also offers licorice, molasses and sweet coffee. Youíre a brute, but I love you.

bottle shared with a friend, poured a dark brown colour with a tanned head, roasted malts, dark coffee hits the nose first, iím getting ash, cacao, long lasting bitterness in the back, vanilla, toffee, ok mouthfeel, but a bit to boring

650 ml bottle. Dark amber/brown body with a thin beige head that fades. Aroma has quite mild, dark malt, gentle roast, dark chocolate and hint of coffee. Flavor is sweet, smooth, light roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, balanced good bitterness and warming alcohol. Fine body and good aftertaste. Delicious.

Black with a big tan head. Aroma is a bit boozy with some bitter chocolate. Flavor is very strong and bitter with a big hit of booze in the finish. Bittersweet chocolate and some hops make it pretty bitter throughout. Wife: 3.8

Bomber with a kickass label and a date stamp that I think reads 15026. Pitch black pour with a tan head. Beautiful appearance. Lots of coffee and roast on the aroma with a hint of ash tray. Very roasty flavor, coffee, and pretty bitter but not astringent. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Finishes clean and dry. Solid.

650ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of coffee and liquorice, leather, oak, subtle hints of treacle, resinous and piney hoppy overtones. Taste is slightly sweet dark malty, resinous hoppy, orange and grapefruit combined with dark chocolate. Relatively light and drinkable for its 10% abv.

On tap at the Big Texas Beer Fest. Poured an opaque black shade with a khaki head. Taste of dark roasted malts, coffee, boozy, with a slightly bitter finish. Average carbonation, thick and oily full bodied brew.

A good example of the style. Very strong coffee flavor with a bit of chocolate that over powers everything but the bitter hop finish. Not much sugar flavor, a touch of booziness.
