COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sea Monster Imperial Stout is a new version of an old favorite. This hearty stout is black as the abyss and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV, a real monster. The flavors of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate are complamented by a velvety smoothness from the addition of un-malted barley and oats. Colombus and Amarillo hops help to balance out the huge malt character of this flavor bomb. Be careful the alcohol is well hidden and will sneak up on you if you don’t watch out. Like most scary monsters, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear.

Bomber poured into my chalice style glass- huge roasted aroma- so inviting. Appearance is perfect, dark brown/black, big brown one finger froth head. Taste is so wonderfully balanced; chocolate toffee with candied or roasted oats. So delicious and the palate is creamy, chewy and thick. Me Gusta!

22oz bottle. This is my vote for the best stout of 2008. Pours dark brown black with a thin, light brown head. Smells dark and malty sweet with some chocolate and slight roast. Tastes deep and dark malty sweet, dark but sweet chocolate and some alcohol. Beautiful. Full, syrupy, but super smooth body, good carbonation.

Bomber thanks to MrBunn and indirectly to GorditoAbd...Pours incredibly black with the thinnest of dark tan head. I first off get a snootful of chocolate, plums, booze, vanilla and a hint of tobacco. Flavor is just outstanding and match the nose to a tee, but the booze is better hidden than I first thought. Smooth and creamy and Deeeeeeelicious.

This doesn’t smell as great as it tastes. Lots of thick chewy characters, but not too alcoholic in the flavor. Just a slightly off aroma.

Bomber with many thanks to gorditoabd for throwing this in for our "Monster Trade." I watch the pour closely and see that some light pierces the dark brown liquid as it pours, but once it is in the glass... light’s out. A slow forming head rises up near the end of the pour and fades away to a film fairly quickly. Aromas are roasty... lots of heavy malt and chocolate with a little bit of booze and dark fruit. Flavor is MUCH better than expected. I would rate this as one of the better impy stouts that I’ve tried in the last year... and that list includes a lot of over-hyped junk. The alcohol makes its presence known with a nice warmth and burn in the aftertaste, but the real draw here is the chocolate, vanilla, oatmeal and plum wine body. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky. This doesn’t push the envelope at all, but is damn solid.

I’m not the one to love the Imperial Stout but this one went down quite nicely.

Bomber from Smith’s, and get ya some while you can, because they are down to their last case and a half. Pours turbid black, with some ruby edges on the bottom concavature of my tulip glass, and 2f tan head that is well retained. Lokks just marvelous. Nose is roasty dark malt, cacao, molasses, earthy, hops. Tastes rich, complex, with a big dark patent malt bill matched by big cacao, huge hops, and some dark fruit. Gets a bit astringent and even more resiny hoppy late, and stays hefty on the palate and is a true heavyweight of beers.

As the label suggests, coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts balanced by just the right amount of hops to make it all come together perfectly. A great beer from one of the best breweries.

Pours a syruppy black color from the bomber with tiny notes of carbonation and a trim brown head. Smells of hops, barley, and oyster shells. Coffee and bakers cocoa are also featured, but theres an element of oysters and mild lemon juice here that I cant seem to shake. Hot with alcohol on the finish. Memorable and unlike anything Ive yet to taste.
