Black as the darkest depths, great khaki head retention, pine resin and grapefruit zest in the nose, figgy, robust chocolate and espresso roast flavor. Silky, velvety palate… Awesome brew!

Bomber with a kickass label and a date stamp that I think reads 15026. Pitch black pour with a tan head. Beautiful appearance. Lots of coffee and roast on the aroma with a hint of ash tray. Very roasty flavor, coffee, and pretty bitter but not astringent. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Finishes clean and dry. Solid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of coffee and liquorice, leather, oak, subtle hints of treacle, resinous and piney hoppy overtones. Taste is slightly sweet dark malty, resinous hoppy, orange and grapefruit combined with dark chocolate. Relatively light and drinkable for its 10% abv.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A good example of the style. Very strong coffee flavor with a bit of chocolate that over powers everything but the bitter hop finish. Not much sugar flavor, a touch of booziness.

Bottle. Pours an opaque black with a layer of toffee colored head. Aroma of roasted malts and some coffee. The taste really shows the balance of the coffee/chocolate with the oatmeal. Very drinkable with a deceptive abv.

22o bottle pours inky dark brown black with a finger of offwhite head. Nose has big roast dark fruit and bitter chocolate with some dry licorice and a touch of char. Medium body. Taste is similar with big charred dark cocoa with a touch of fruitiness. Finishes dry with medium high bitterness, roasty dark licorice fruit and some round malt char. Ok. Doesn’t touch Victory at Sea.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a big tan head. Aroma is a bit boozy with some bitter chocolate. Flavor is very strong and bitter with a big hit of booze in the finish. Bittersweet chocolate and some hops make it pretty bitter throughout.
