3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 22oz bottle poured into a snifter. Inky black with a moderate brown head that dissipated over the next two minutes. Nice lacing on the glass as I drink this. Aroma is first chocolate, then a mellow roasted coffee takes over. Hint of caramel. Lightly bitter, full body and thick on the palate. A little sticky. Very nice, but just short of great. If only a couple of itís traits would have been more aggressive, especially in the aroma, this would have easily been a 4+ for sure. That said, itís very enjoyable and I think would be easy to drink for someone who is not accustomed to imperial stouts. 10% ABV, but no hint of alcohol at all. Iíve read other reviews that said this was rather boozy. But those were likely other versions of this beer that are brewed in whiskey and rum barrels as special editions. Trust me ... the alcohol is completely hidden, which to me, in a beer, is a good thing.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2016 Pint at Vultureís Lane. Inky black with little for the nose but a lot for the tongue. Tastes as inky black as it looks, with tonnes of malts. Some soy as well.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 22 OZ bomber into a pint glass. Pure black color with a rich tan to brown head. smooth taste heavy with malt and chocolate. The high ABV is noticeable but blends well with the flavor.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A really nice looking monster. Black, with a decent beige head that is somewhat rare in an Imperial Stout. The aroma is full of roasted malt, chocolate and oak. Taste brings a bitterness from the coffe. Long warming finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
BOD 355/15. Pitch black pour. World class head volume, lacing and retention.
Outstanding light nose of bakerís chocolate, roast, molasses and a hint of dark fruit (plum, currant).
Medium body that is smooth but lacks any hint of being creamy. A bit under carbonated for the body but has a fairly effervescent middle and the finish approaches prickly.
The flavor profile is outstanding...especially as it approaches room temperature. The flavor is slightly blended throughout, but separation occurs in the middle and beyond. It begins with a blend of coffee and roast that flows to the middle. Here a rather sweet molasses and caramel take center stage with bitter chocolate playing a supporting role. Hops appear as well adding another layer of complexity and a mild bitterness. Underneath, dark fruit (plum and light currant) gain strength and briefly rise to the surface, as a sea monster should. As the finish approaches, the 10% alcohol rears its head in terms of heat and light astringency. The finish is a slow slightly sweet fade of molasses that succumbs to grain alcohol flavor and astringency.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pretty weak appearance.... Just dark with a flimsy beige head. Love the aroma.... Roasted coffee, milk chocolate, some mint. Nice crispness on the tongue....heavy malts, nice chocolate sweetness with a hoppy shell.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours black with a tan head and little lacing. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, leather, and alcohol. The taste is chocolate, molasses, coffee, and alcohol. Itís thick and syrupy with a bitter and booze bite to it. This drinks strong and heavy. I thought it was a very nice sipping beer though.
