Brock_Landers (714), Panama City, Florida, USA Feb 6, 2008 Bomber. Dark black pour.....tannish head. Somewhat roasty aroma, more of the same in the taste. Light coffee, smooth and thin. Definite bitternes, both hop and roasted. Not bad, but not the best Ballast Point has to offer.
PilsnerPeter (1392), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 14, 2008 Bottle: (Thanks MaxxDaddy!) Near black pour with brown at the edges and a creamy tan head. The aroma is tarry with chocolate syrup, and salty licorice. Flavor is salty as well. Dark/bitter chocolate, licorice, underlying sweet boozy notes (almost reminiscent of rum) with an espresso like finish. A bit too salty, but still decent. lb4lb (1363), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle from JW77. Thanks man!
Pours a nice black with short lived dark light tan head. Smell is soy sauce, followed by roasted malt. Taste is soy sauce, chocolate and roasty malt. Overall taste borders moreso on the soy flavor component and some sharp almost acidic maltiness. Prickly carbonation. Doesn’t do a lot for me, but its drinkable. So so... puzzl (1722), New York, New York, USA Aug 13, 2008 Nice aroma, good roast with a fair saltiness and oyster. Flavor is light, a touch of roast, slightly lactic, slight alcohol. A bit muddy and grassy. Not too exciting, lacks body and definition. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours dark brown to black with a light redish glare and a lacing off-white head. Roasted and fruity aroma. Flavour is hard roasted malt but also mild acidic to citric fruity flavour. Ends with a mild roasted and acidic fruity finish. Lovely. dmac (839), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 5, 2008 22 oz bottle shared at BCTC 2008. Pours a great looking pitch black with a large creamy beige head. Biggy hoppy aroma for a stout but also had the usual aromas of chocolate, raosted malts, slightly burnt notes and some syrup as well. The body on this one had stingy carbonation that was distracting. Flavor of burnt malts, sweet chocolate but with a slightly acidic finish. Nice beer and would of rated higher if it wasn’t for the overcarbonation issue.
