2008-04-18. Black body with a huge tan head and lacing. (4+) Lightly acidic roasty aroma, mild mocha notes. Similar roast in the flavour is not as bitter as it might be, pleasantly so, malty base. Light bitter roast lingers in the finish. Average plus palate is nice, but on the average side for a stout. Solid. Bottle from SDBruboy

Bomber.

Pours a dark and beautiful with a vast and relatively fine-grained head. Nice!

Mocha pushing toward ash on the nose, whispers of smoke. More smoke in the flavor, again gentle, bright flavors with plenty of berry/cherry, good bitter-chocolate tones, licorice. Fairly drinkable mouthfeel but never thin, a very nice beer!

I think the hops and chocolate stand out the most, though the currant is also evident. This kept the bottle I had at the high/bright end of the spectrum: malt and coffee balance was not as big a factor as with some very dark stouts. A good beer all the same.

Thanks to The_Epeeist for swinging me a bomber of this. Pours deep brown with a medium head that doesn’t last too long. Aroma of deep roasted malt, espresso and a bit of liquorice. A little hops to finish it off. Medium body. None of the creaminess you might expect in an oatmeal; just a good, straitforward stout.

Bottle from 2007. Near black with a frothy 2" head. Nice malted chocolate roasted grain aroma. Medium body and smooth. Great stout flavors of malty cocoa, pit fruits, black currant with some chewing tobacco like bitterness to finish. Very easy drinking, tasty beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours a black body with some mahogany highlights. Fizzy and foamy espresso colored head with nice retention. The nose is all roast with a good dose of coffee and burnt grain. Some light hops. The flavor is pretty nice, black patent malt, and dark-roast coffee. A good bit of malt bitterness and then some hop bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is full and fairly smooth, would be a bit smoother if the carbonation weren’t so active. The longer it sat the better that got though. Overall, quite a good drinker, but I would have preferred a bit lower ABV if I were going to have a whole lot of it.
