COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry stout with fresh brewed Cafe Calabria coffee. The flaked barley and oats serve to round out the body a little without the malty sweetness. Calabria is an independant coffee importer and roaster located on 30th st. in the North Park area of San Diego.

On tap at Tap and Mallet. Straight black with a creamy tan had, toasted grains, chocolate and hints if chocolate on the nose. It tastes of oats an chocolate with some malt flavors. It has a dry carbonated finish. I was suprised that it was so thin.

I had this on tap at Ballast Point. It pours a very dark cola brown and opaque. The head is a light taupe color. The head fades to a thin cap quickly. Coffee nose. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Creamy to the finish. Standard stout. But, miles better than Guinness.

Nitro draft at Khyber Pass. Very dark copper pour with a nice tight head (thanks in part to the Nitro I’m sure.) Certainly a stout, but an unexpected sourness jumps out that may not be for everyone (but is for me!) The oatmeal adds a creamy chocolate feel. There is a darker stout hiding in there with notes of charcoal, coffee grounds, leather. Though both the sourness and the creaminess here seem to most define it. A nice break in between other dark beers, but maybe a bit much to have more than one at a time.

Draft. Deep brown/black body with a creamy, off-white head. Big aroma of roasted coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate. Hints of char, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Taste of coffee and chocolate with some burnt notes. Dry finish. Tasty coffee stout, nicely balanced.

This was a sample tasted at the brewery. There was a creamy head that stayed with the stout. The roasted malts was very smooth with a taste of pine nuts. The carbonation was soft and the finish was smooth. These beers were tasted on the outside terrace. The place was busy with visitors with growlers and people coming just to enjoy the beer.

Draught at The Ginger Man, Manhattan. Dark brown color, spongy small tan head, strong coffee aroma, low carbonation, long finish. A balanced porter but you feel as if you had chewed coffee beans.
