Commercial Description:
A dry stout with fresh brewed Cafe Calabria coffee. The flaked barley and oats serve to round out the body a little without the malty sweetness. Calabria is an independant coffee importer and roaster located on 30th st. in the North Park area of San Diego.

It’s a very good 4.8% stout. Somewhat like guinness, but more enjoyable aroma coming up to me. Comfortable muscut, melon, mineral, metal, kind of white wine element hidden in coffee and earthy taste. It is melting a well-combinated tone into tender stout. Fine!

On tpa at Bulldog. Poured with a huge foamy off white to cream head in a pint glass. I ordered a 3/4 size but due to the huge head, it came in a pint glass. The head was a dessert in itself. Quite creamy and sweet. Taste not overyl coffee flaboured, which was pleasant for me. Yes, i got the chocolate, roasted oats and some coffee. Thin bodied but not unpleasantly so for me. A light bodied beer that was easy to drink. Didn’t pack much punch in the flavour department though. Not bad. Pleasant.

Big thick light brown head. Oatmeal, chocolate and coffee, but honestly this was fairly watery, unbalanced and somewhat plastic tasting. I think the beer was in good condition, it just wasn’t very good I thought. Still fairly drinkable, some nice coffee flavors and smooth mouth, but I wouldn’t order again.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt and coffee, as well as light notes of bitter dark chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt, lending it a bit of acidity, combined with notes of oatmeal and light notes of coffee, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. The body is a bit thin.

Growler fill from the brewery. A very good oatmeal stout. Dark brown with large creamy tan head. Creamy chocolate, coffee, oatmeal, small amount of hops, and a dry finish. Velvety smooth mouthfeel.

On draft at Hollingshead Deli. Not a lot going on here, bland, a bit water, flavors are a bit mellow

On tap at Stone. This one tisted at 6.8%. Dark dark with no head by the time it got to my table. Small ring is all. Subtle nose with cocoa, coffee, and maybe some oats. Sticks to the mouth. Not overpowering in any facet on the palate.

Nitro at main brewery location. This is a really damn tasty. This version was listed at 5.1%. Pours deep brown with a big creamy tan head. Nose is sweet and chocolaty. Taste is very chocolaty rich and overall quite smooth. I found this to be an excellent balance between a dry and sweet stout.
