UPDATED: JUN 17, 2009 It’s a very good 4.8% stout. Somewhat like guinness, but more enjoyable aroma coming up to me. Comfortable muscut, melon, mineral, metal, kind of white wine element hidden in coffee and earthy taste. It is melting a well-combinated tone into tender stout. Fine!

This poured a medium brown color with a beige head. Aroma was lots of roasted coffee notes, some pepper, and rich bakers chocolate. Flavor was fairly dry, but creamy, nice mild coffee notes with a well balanced dry stout.

Had on nitro tap. Insanely smooth, creamy, nice coffee flavor in an oatmeal. Aroma isn't too spectacular, but super drinkable and flavorful. Great mouthfeel and head retention. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Gingerman in NYC. Pours a jet black with thick small creamy head. Good bit of carbonation for a dry stout. Lacing was not so pronounced. Aromas of bittersweet chocolate, nutty bread, solid malt profile. Tastes of tobacco, cola, oatmeal, roasted and chocolate malts. Finishes smooth and slighlty sweet. Very good dry stout.

Nitro. Pours black with a tan head. Light roasted malty aroma, with chocolate and ashy coffee notes. The flavor has roasted malts, coffee, chocolate fudgey sweetness, and a salty hint. Good stuff.

Draft at Craft. Turbid onyx pour with 1-finger tan head. Nose was choc and black patent malt, coffee. Tastes rich, malty, with hints of cacao, espresso, nuts, and some lactic sweetness. I did not get diacetyls in this, and based upon the historical trend for BP beers it is not plausible that an acetyl bomb left CA and Ballast Point in that state, so guys, let’s start listing the locations where we get butter beer and investigating them rather than trashing good beer.
