White head, golden body. Faint hint of smoke. The mouth is a touch sweet and clearly malt driven, which is appropriate for the style. smoke is a bit too weak, but still very pleasant light drinkin beer that paired well with the Fish Tacos at Antenna America.

On draft at Tap 25. I love me some smoked beer! This one didn’t disappoint. It pours a lightly hazy yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is strong with campfire, wood, smoked meat and lightly kilned grains. The flavor is meaty with more smoke, campfire and noticeable background light malt. Really this has a perfect amount of smokiness to remind of smoked meat and campfire without being harsh or phenolic. You even get a little bit of the Helles base in there.. Theres a bit of bitterness near the finish that is a little weird for this kind of beer, but it doesn’t really detract from the experience. I really loved this one. One of the best smoked beers I’ve had from the States.

George’s Bachelor Party September 2013. Pours a pretty clear golden, light. The smoke is ok in the nose but the taste is nothing great. Camp fire in a bad way. Like 3 weeks later on a sweatshirt.

Sample at Daily Growler. Clear yellow color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Subtle smoke and malt in the nose. Light body with flavors of smoked malt, grain and slight hops. The finish is mildly smoky with a short burnt malt aftertaste. Average overall.

Tap at sam’s yellow golden with a thin sticky white lace. Nose is light crackery malts, light sweet biscuit, light earthy citrus, faint smoke. Flavor shows a bit more smoke, crackery malts, some pine and citrus hop character. A nice smokey Helles even if the hops are amped up a bit more than is traditional.

Tap @ Toronado San Diego... Poured cloudy, bright, pale yellow with a moderate, fizzy, white head. Nose had a hint of smoked meats. Had malt sweetness with charred ashes and smokiness through the middle to the finish. Some sweetness for balance, low hop character and a moderate yeast tone. But quite clean with a lingering smokiness in the finish.
