"A pretty cool hybrid type beer. A hopped up schwarz that exhibits mainly characteristics of that sttyle...dry, roasty, caramel...but is hopped not quite like a black ipa, but starting to head in that direction. Nice, unique brew."

Draft. Lots of smoke and dark roasted grains in the aroma, long dry finish and a pretty hoppy taste. I think it’s the combo of the hops and burnt that gives you the long lingering bitter. Once it warms up some chocolate and coffee come forward but it’s still pretty mild.

Keg at Ballast Point Tasting Room & Kitchen, Little Italy SD, 19/04/14. Light black with a moderate tan swirl and edgework. Nose is red berry fruit, dark malts, light pine, hint of tropical fruit. Taste comprises roasty tones, pine bite, mineral pangs, bitter grapefruit, liqourice, light spice, hoppy tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent CDA - yup CDA .... you don’t always have to hang off how the brewer markets it !!!

[Tap] Pours a very dark brown color. Pinecone and good amount of roasty malt in the aroma. Toffee, molasses, milk chocolate and citrus hops in the taste. Kinda odd with the yeast choice, but not too bad. Tasting notes from 2/2014.
