badlizard (1433), San Diego, California, USA Jul 11, 2008 ON tap at brewery. Copper red with a tan head. Amazing sweet, oak, and wine aroma. Very tangy citrus and caramel taste initially, followed by a tangy wine and oak taste, and finishing with a fruity wine taste. Excellent. doubleo (742), San Diego, California, USA Apr 17, 2008 On nitro at the HomeBrewMart today. Pours dark brown with dark red highlights. Creamy tan head with sheet lace. Smells dark and malty, sweet, woody, and red wine spicy. Tastes malty and woody. Red wine flavors, sour and boozey, some acidity. Mouthfeel is full and smooth with mellow, velvety carbonation. Ibrew2or3 (1685), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jan 17, 2008 On tap @ San Diego Brewing brewpub. Pours clear amber with thin off white head. The medium strength aroma brings forth red wine, caramel malts and faint wood. The taste begins with a quick shot of red wine notes and a hint of dry tart tannins. Early in the taste a mixture of dark fruity (or it may be the red wine grapes carrying on), rich caramel candy, a hint of chocolate malts, roasty malts and faint wood. This is a wonderful combination that doesn’t drown out the base beer but lets it shine through the veil of barrel-ness. padrefan98 (593), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jan 17, 2008 Draft at O’brien’s. Flavors of some fruit and spiced wood. Intersting style, that I enjoyed. I want more. Snojerk321 (952), San Diego, California, USA Jan 17, 2008 On draft @ O’Brien’s Syrah barrel aged. Pours a deeply hazed chocolate brown with a small tan head. Nose was sour, spiced ad woody all at the same time! A good (different) brew.
