Draft at Stone Oakquinoz 2012. Orange/amber pour, thin off-white head. Sweet malt, caramel, fruit, raisin, red wine grape, and oak. A pretty good barleywine, but to sweet for me.

The pour is a dark amber color with an off-white head. The wine gives the beer a very fruity aroma. Lots of grape and red fruit notes with plenty of oak, too. Very sweet from all the wine as well as the natural sweetness of the brown sugar, caramel, and toffee notes. The flavor is slightly oxidized with a hint of chocolate. Good caramel and brown sugar and tons of red wine and red grape flavor.

Thick and syrupy. Raisins and caramel in the body. Spicy and hoppy and full-bodied, but just a tad uneven. Dry and clean finish. Sweet but not cloying. Very good barleywine.

A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d definitely get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. High levels of oxidation, very raisony, more so than I remembered from the regular offering. The oxidation actually isnt that bad though, its fitting.

Very dark brown amber color. Huge vanilla oak nose, chocolate and oranges. Amazing nose. Lingering oak. Hit you upside the face with oak and chocolate. Very balanced mouth. Smooth Luscious finish. Lingering brown sugar finish.

Tap at Ballast Point. Pours a deeper hazy brownish amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee, wine notes, tobacco, vanilla and woody notes. Flavor of oak, tobacco, dark fruits, toffee, nuts, wine and vanilla.

Draft. Slightly hazy toffee colored beer with a cream colored head. Caramel/toffee aroma with big fruit and light barrel notes. Fruity, caramel flavor with light earth and light barrel notes. Medium bodied. Fruitiness lingers with caramel/toffee and some earthiness.

On tap at the Morena location. Yum, yum, and emeffing YUM. Nose is all wine and rich malt. Lotsa goodness all over the place. Taste is super sweet and fruity for a moment, then rich and malty. Too many things going on in the moment to realize them all. Lovely brew. Itried to talk them into filling my growler, but I couldn’t finish the deal.

Pours murky, red/brown with a thin offwhite head, some lace. Smells sweet and caramel malty with some fruit and grapes and slight wood sweetness as well. Tastes fruity and woody and malty, Nice, clean oak notes with wine grapes and a solid, sweet malt backbone. Best BA brew I’ve had from BP. Medium/full body, good carbonation.

Dark mohagany brown with a fizzy tan head. Strong aroma of molasses caramel sour grape and oak aroma. Tart caramel molasses and raisin taste with big wine and oak flavors on the back end and a smooth grape finish.
