2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
June 1, 2013 - Beers like this make me acutely sensitive to how wimpy my palate is. Ballast Point’s Thai Chili Wahoo is an admirable beer, I’m sure, with a lovely smell of japaño and tortilla. But the taste is really, caustically hot. It’s brutal, and I’m happy to pass it off to a friend with a leather tongue. These brews tend to vary batch-by-batch, and maybe this was an especially brutal brew, but it’s not something I can digest.

a pretty tasty beer. Flavor is strongly thai green chili; don’t taste much of the lime. I like the effect, but the taste has some disjointed moments when the spice hits the wheat.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Ballast Point. Pours a straw yellow with minimal head. Nose has citrus, lime, chilli and ginger. Very appealing nose. Taste is very much like a thai chilli and lime salad. Lovely fresh flavours. Nice chilli burn. A lot going for the low abv.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2015 "Improves significantly on an already nice hefe. Great aroma, flavor and cool factor. Mild-moderate chili, nice thai ginger and lime presence. Just a tasty light treat." not as spicy in recent incarnations

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at The Brass Tap, poured a cloudy golden yellow color with aromas of wheat, light lime and a touch of heat. Flavors were wheat up front with some nice lime, and spicy chilis on the back end. A nice take on a wheat beer, that was quite enjoyable.

Smells like a wheat beer, looks like a wheat beer. The real surprise is when you taste it, lime flavors with a hot spicy finish, love spicy beers!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy golden, slight orange color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have wheat and yeast from the base beer with the addition of lime, citrus, ginger, Thai spices and a solid kick from the chili peppers in the finish. The additional ingredients took a very average beer andmade it interesting. Lots of flavor at 4%.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; a hazy golden orange with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells tart, wheaty, and yeasty with notes of ginger. Tastes like it smells with some pepper spiciest as well. Average on the palate. Alright, but not really my thing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Dutch’s. Totally hazy golden orange door. Thin off-white head. Leaves loose dots of lace. Nice citrusy, lightly peppery nose, good belgian wit yeast aromas. Bright, orange citrus in the nose. Some lime in the finish of the flavor. Nice ginger in the body, and an awesome chili pepper kick in the finish. Moderate sweet taste, aside from the chili heat at the back palate. Very nice combo overall. Medium body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Slick mouthfeel - probably largely due to the pepper making my mouth water. Very tasty, interesting stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours pale whitish yellow, somewhat hazy with a white head. Aroma is a cocktail of spice and fruitiness. The lime, ginger, and chilli all seem to jive well together with none of them taking over from the others. The spiciness is certainly there, but this doesn’t completely kill your palate like ghost face killa. The base beer is hard to find in all the additions.
