On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours reddish brown with a modest beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a hearty red malt flavor with a dry finish. Less sweet adn more dry than most barleywines, but still pretty tasty.

Aroma: heavy grain and caramel malts, some floral hops. Appearance: dark, hazy, amber, small, creamy, beige head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: light bitters coming up, getting dry quickly, flowers and grain malts. Overall: nice Barley Wine, somewhat light aroma. Pint at Ballast Point Brewery, San Diego.

Keg at the Little Italy Tasting Room, SD, 12/11/14.
Lightly hazed chestnut brown with a decent beige swirl and edgework.
Nose is caramel, toasted brown sugars, dark fruits, cake mix, light booze.
Taste comprises toffee, melow dark fruit rinds, dates, light spice, hoppy backnotes, nutty twang.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok barley wine, not a huge amount of depth but a decent sipper none the less.

Draft at Hamilton’s. Was really dark in color for the style Aroma of dark fruits and roasted malt. Flavor was heavy on the roasted side with the above mentioned flavors. Alcohol was well hidden, not really detectable.

Pours is a clear gold with thin white head. Mostly sweet caramel malt, with notes of fruit, oak, vanilla, and earthy hops. Pretty good, but not one of my favorites.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a light tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Rich malt flavor with toffee, brown sugar and light earthiness. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee lingers with some darker malts. Richer malts with hops backing and some light fruitiness.

Tap at Rattle N Hum for the Ballast Point Promo night with Joe and Zach. Pours a hazed medium to deep amber with a thinning head- fades. Aroma is very sharp earthy crystal malt, caramel, honey, maple, earth, light grassy hops, and ok fruity raisin esters. Flavor is also a touch too sharp with dark crystal malts, brown sugar, sweet molasses and earth with a light hoppy finish- somewhat smooth- ok.

Served in a tulip glass from the tap at Ballast Point Brewery. Pours dark mahogany with a generous frothy head. Malty aroma with notes of molasses, oaky rum, and burnt sugar. There is a surprising hint of sourness. The flavor is rich in malts that is well balanced with an underlying subtle bitterness. Full body. A great barleywine overall.

Pours clear dark amber / brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, dried fruits, yeast and toffee. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, toffee and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
