JorisPPattyn (4248), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 24, 2008 Draught Good yellow-creamhead; maroon beer. US hops, milkchocolate, coffee cream, grapes and a fruity finish. Good bready, well-balanced sweet-bitter; finish is very dry-bitterish; flavours of exotic fruit. Well-balanced, quite slick, dry-out effect in the end. Good, if unbelievably discreet in the alcohol for a barley wine.
Angeloregon (1549), Portland, Oregon, USA May 8, 2008 On tap at Ballast Point in SD, CA--Deep ruby amber body with a thick off-white head. Hoppy, malty sweet boozy nose. Slight bublegum and candy nose, too. Fruity, chewy, mildly cloying mouthfeel. Sharp bitter boozy finish. Quite good. shp555 (1359), lilburn, Georgia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pours a hazy amber red color with a tan head. Aroma is malty, caramel, some aged malts, alcohol, and some hops. Flavor is aged malts, caramel, some aged hops, and a nice bitter hop finish. This barleywine is great it combines the great aged barleywine flavor with the fresh hop bitterness. padrefan98 (574), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Feb 9, 2008 Tasted at the brewery. Nice hoppy flavors in this barley wine. Some fruitiness. Excellent! decaturstevo (1138), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jan 31, 2008 A deep copper pour with a yellow green head. A solid raisin and other dried fruit on the nose. A flavor of oak, oranges, and dried fruit taking up the slack. Palat is just a bit thin. A good beer all round complex and very different from most BW’s.
