Prepare to walk the plank to an Ale of overwhelming proportions. More hops & more malts than any land lubber can handle. After this experience...your tongue will be buckled. The I.B.U.’s (International Bitterness Units) are off the scale on this ale. Be forewarned, those with a timid palate, this is not a wee beer! Handcrafted in small batches for those sailing the seas in search of great ales.

Bottle. The pour is a hazy bright red. The aroma is mostly hops. The taste is a little boozy throughout. Finishes a little too much for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by DalzAle, thanks Greg! Pours a nice amber, tons of caramel and hops on the nose. Flavor is bitter hops--Pitney and resiny, with great malts. Strong enough where you can taste the booziness but its not.overpowering and is incredibly well done.

Brown/Copper and hazy on the pour. Caramel and light sweet aromas from the pour. The drink is intensely full bodied with a combination of malty, sweet and alcohol flavors all in one punch. Slight bitterness on the after taste. Not my favorite but somehow i found myself going back to it.

Pours opaque red-amber with a thick light tan head. Aroma is sweet malts and faint pine hops. Wow. The malts and hops are on equal footing with this one! The first taste is chalky thick malts. Everything seems to come together in the mid palate - an interesting malt/hop blend. The hops really show in the finish with an insidious bitterness. Awesome red ale!!

Bottle: pours clear, deep amber, reasonable sand colored head, some lacing. Small bubbles of carbonation form an interesting pattern along the surface. Nose is cooked caramel, toffee, toast, butterscotch and herbal hops. Full bodied. Biscuit, pine, caramel and crystal malt sweetness, molasses, cedar chest and some varnish flavors. Pine hop bitterness and varnish on the finish. This has a little heat but overall, solid big red ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Scott! Pours a hazy copper red with thin off-white head and light lacing. Atoms and taste of sweet caramel malt, toffee, and slight piney hops. Solid beer, bittersweet finish.

Thanks Scott! Hazy orange red white head dissipates quickly. Aroma of strawberry twizzler. Bitter sweet toasted malt earth and still strawberry twizzler. Hoppy and sweet.

Bottle from Randy. Pours a deep maroon. Aroma is boozy.. caramel, pine, grass. Taste is slightly fruity but shortly overwhelmed by hoppy bitterness. Super boozy.. tastes like 14%. Not the most pleasant imperial red i’ve had.

Draft at Split Thy Skull at Mugs BK. unclear red. Big skunky funky hops with sweet ripe fruit in abundance along side spice and booze. Flavor is very sweet, hop resin, deep lasting bitter, vegetal, spice. Sticky gritty palate. Great beer, not super complex.

Bottle from Lueken’s Liquors. A smooth mouthfeel, with an initial maltiness followed by a pleasant citrusy hop finish. Well integrated blend of malt and hops, the perfect imperial red beer. Another master craft from this brewery.
