3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: Deep red, decent head.
Smell: Not a lot in the nose.
Taste: Sweet and malty. Some toffee. Much more intense flavor than I would have guessed from the aroma. Fairly boozy.
Mouthfeel: Medium-ish body.
Drinkability: Solid. A bit heavy handed on the maltiness. Not a favorite.

This beer is absolutely enjoyable Ballast Point does not disappoint .They make many delicious brews and I’d say this one falls in their top ten . Its an Imperial Red Ale with lots of hop flavors a spruce scent with a very mellow smooth finish and a nice reddish auburn color. This one is a must!!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark red . Aroma is very sweet with a little hop aroma. However the flavor blasts with hops and very bitter which lasts. Fantastic strong ale.

Mouth-feel: Balanced; Medium Body; Big Carbonation; Dry Finish
Overall: Wonderful West Coast style Red. The ample malt sweetness is nicely balanced by the hops

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear red. Big piney aroma. Flavor big and piney with evident abv. Sweet medium colored malts. Some hints of mid color crystal maybe. Better as it warms and loses some carbo.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma - was massive, with big oily hops and alcohol. That acetone like quality when it’s too much. I knew this one was going to shred my stomach.
Appearance - orange amber body, with an off-white head. Not as much head or lacing as I would have thought
Taste - was intensely hoppy, some grapefruit, with subdued malts that tend to be slightly caramel and roast in nature
Feel - very oily of hops, and that usually hurts my stomach. Like super hot wings, I like them but both oily hopped beers and spicy foods don’t like me back.
It certainly doesn’t fail to measure up to it’s name, wouldn’t drink more than one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip courtesy of Fernando after our daughters last indoor soccer game (loss) of the Fall session. Pours clear, dark brown, off-white head - looks great. Smells of carmel, malt, with some citrus, pine - smells great. Taste starts hoppy, grapefruit, then turns to caramel, roast, bread, some big malts and then slight alcohol warming is there but overwhelmed by the "imperial" intensity. Such a big sticky hops vs big strong malts brew, not really an imperial red...but did make my tongue buckle from everything going on in there (almost too much). Interestingly - medium body with medium carbonation. Liked it, but probably couldn’t drink 2. Even though didn’t taste like a 10%...it would be better as a less intense 8%. Good one Ballast Point...but at $11? Aaarrrrrrrrrrrrr!
