Prepare to walk the plank to an Ale of overwhelming proportions. More hops & more malts than any land lubber can handle. After this experience...your tongue will be buckled. The I.B.U.’s (International Bitterness Units) are off the scale on this ale. Be forewarned, those with a timid palate, this is not a wee beer! Handcrafted in small batches for those sailing the seas in search of great ales.

Bomber from Sam’s, Durham. Dusty copper pour, with hints of brightness. Seafoam head. Sharp, aggressively bitter nose with rough malts in there for (yes) ballast. Super sweet and acerbically bitter for the most part, lacking much of the character and complexity of some other fine examples of this style I’ve recently had. Points for being super fresh, but even with that in mind this beer was just too one-dimensionally aggressive for me.

Bomber. Smells like caramel with a decent amount of spruce. Very powerful and bitter. Pucker power with a sweet malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle from Tasty Beverage Company, Raleigh, NC. Deep rusty orange pour with a reddish hue and a thick off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, wet grass, and light toffee notes. The taste is awesome with bitter grapefruit, pineapple, and tangerine combined with an assertive caramel malt backbone. Somehow this is easily drinkable even with the high bitterness and alcohol. As with many "American Strong Ales" this is not quite a DIPA and not quite a barleywine. Great brew!

Dark orange. Tons of sticky white head. Malty and fruity aroma. Bitter and floral. Super good

Bottle pours an a awesome deep deep red with soap size off white head. Smells tastes cloy sweet almost like a ipa past it’s prime. Very bitter not really resin or pine just bitter. Slight spice taste. Makes your tongue tingly. Normally I wouldn’t waste much time reviewing a beer I didn’t enjoy but damn this beer sets out to blow your tongue up and it does. But there is no added value from its bitterness no reward. Boo.

Clear mahogany pour. Small head. Smells syrupy and sweet. Tastes brutally bitter with a palate shredding brashness. Uncompromising. Sweet. Sticky.

Pours a cloudy caramel. Aroma of spicy hops cinnamon and musky syrup. Taste is sweet throughout until the end where the bitterness finally outlasts the strong malt backbone. Serious hops serious malts. Strong beer. A good one to break out for hop heads. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 26.06.2013, tap @ The Cannibal NY:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, caramel malts, lots of hops, dried fruits, wet leafs, forest floor, pine needles. Taste is slightly concentrated grassy, lots of hops, toffee, grass, pine needles, wet leafs, hay, soil, cellar. Longlasting powerful bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Nice one, but still not my kind of beer.

Pours deep dark amber with thick creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet malt and bright piny, citrusy hops. Taste is like sweet caramel malt upfront that fades into juicy citrus hops on the follow through. Aftertaste is lingering bitter pine and citrus hoppiness with a touch of alcohol warming. Palate is crisp and sticky. Overall a very hop forward, but very balanced strong ale.
