3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler filled at DeCiccoís In Ardsley, NY
Nose boldly of hoppy goodness
Pours ruby hued amber, med. tan head, stays and then leaves a thicker collar and plenty of fine lacing.
Dense layers of hops, resins and spruce. Big and bold brew, with complexity and flavor abounding.
Alcohol, character and density of flavors adds up to a quality brew thats well worth seeking out.

Rich red robust and quite dry on the palate. And yep she is a bitter bitch of a beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Just another great addition from another great brewery. The Tongue Buckler kind of comes off as a Barleywine, what with itís murky brown body and pillowy tan head. The body is full but kind of grainy. Heavy flavors of bitter hops strike their pose on a playful runway of caramel malts. It seems a bit toned down, like a pirate with a dull scabre, but this beer is a solid. Very solid.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. malty hop character with a medium hop and a long finish. A little boozey but mostly just a bitter strong ale thatís kinda hard to finish a pint. Nothing off putting just not pint worthy.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tremendous new label on this bomber (of a skeleton holding the severed tongue of a seaman/pirate). Nose is very hoppy and íredí, if that makes any sense at all, hop dust with caramel and earth, resin, plenty of sugar. Pours deep scarlet with a large and dense tan head. Taste is medium bitter with strong caramel and earth, some dank hops; semi-dry (!!!) to start and only somewhat sweet after lots of volume accumulation. Hops are fresh and piny, woody, and earthy, very light citrus buried in the deep background, and the resin/rough side is also somewhat slight; generally dulled or de-edged all around. Still, the malt is strong enough for some measure of balance in the big, crisp full body, and there are pleasant herbal and mildly spicy notes if you look for them. Clean and fresh, alcohol is not hot or at all unaccounted for. This seems to be another example of a well-made and masterful beer whose recipe Iíd love to alter.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Tap at Craftworks tap house, Itaewon)
A deep, dark ruby beer topped with a beige head. Smells of
well-integrated dusty peach hops, a touch of vanilla, and a few
In the mouth, those hops are present, in quantity, but - alas -
alcohol too, which is clearly present all the way into the finish.
I wanted to like this, but itís boozy, with not just warming
alcohol. At least itís not sticky, though it gets sweeter with time.
The hops merge with the alcohol and are subsumed by it.
Unusually, Phil did not share this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours dark clear amber/brown with a large tan head. Aroma of peppery pine hops and caramel malt. Yeah thatís a lot of hop bitterness, slids bitter down the tongue hitting a only mildly sweet caramel on the finish.
