3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at JW77’s. Damn this is HOPPY. Holy crap. Reddish pour. Off white head. Aroma is full of harsh citrus hops and christmas tree resin. Flavor is just too damn hoppy. Tons of grapefuit peel, bitter resin and some light malt. Wow hopheads rejoice.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle… Clear, deep amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma is a wonderful swirl of pine, caramel and toffee… I mean, lots of caramel and toffee. Full-bodied with barbed carbonation. The flavor is just a ton of earthy, citrusy hop bitterness layered upon huge toffee and caramel malt sweetness. Very malty; very hoppy… almost balances out. Lengthy, bitter, coarse finish that eventually dries out. Bottle provided by WeeHeavySD!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle acquired in trade with WeeHeavyHD (thanks!). This one initially poured all head. Settled into a medium to deeper orange color. Aromas of pine, toasty, caramel, and citrus. Tastes of citrus, caramel, a little fruity, pine and floralness. Tastes definitely nice and hoppy but also had a nice balance. Medium alcohol burn in the finish. Lacing left on the glass. Piney hoppy burps.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep amber-red pour. The nose is really solid. Soft sweet malts with a lot of bright fruity/spicy hops. Fresh and hoppy with a lot of grapefruit/orange citrus behind it all. Chewy, resinous palate that alternates between grapefruit and pine. Sticky hop oils and softly toasted/rye-like malts. Bright and fresh - it’s tough to say why it’s so good, but it is damn good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Lueken’s Liquors. A smooth mouthfeel, with an initial maltiness followed by a pleasant citrusy hop finish. Well integrated blend of malt and hops, the perfect imperial red beer. Another master craft from this brewery.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Churchill’s in San Marcos. Pours a clear amber to near red. Moderate lace. Nose is red fruits, toffee, brown sugar, fruit juice. Hints of sherry. Taste is syrupy, sweet, sticky, moving to sharp tanginess with brown sugar and lemon maple. Lemony and toffee finish. Pretty intensely sticky. Very sharp mouthfeel. Long sticky plus resiny bitter finish. Headache inducing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear red-chestnut to mahogany beer under a huge yellow head, leaving lace. Very orangey nose, sugared oranges on liqueur and orangepeel, point of mineral aroma, some banana, and lots of dry hops. Bitter, with a background of caramel and toffee. Faintly roasted and very hoppy flavours. Bit leafy/earthy retronasal. Dry-out effect, medium bodied. Nice red ale, Californian style (meaning hopped to the gills). Txs to the people at Linda Vista!

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours clear mahogany, looking like orangy-brown fall foliage through indirect light. Nose is rich, heavy resiny hops and a huge malt bill. Almost barleywiney nose. Tastes very astringent and resiny, with a huge hop bill that tells me the 107 claim is likely right on the money. The malt is there, but cannot match the hops in this. Mild vinous fruit flavors late, and some caramel malt, but the hops are center stage here. This one is unique, but way too astringent to be great.
