4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2009 (DC Local Gathering, 750ml bottle, Thanks CaptainCougar) – Dark amberish red, white creamy head. Bold pineapple and fresh melon aromas ride a thick underpinning of piney citrus and mild chocolate. Huge piney tropical fruit flavors balance well on a soft chocolate caramel foundation throughout. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Should have been called tongue numbing….

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled @ Chandler Whole Foods. Bright orange rind brew with a milky ivory head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of tart grapefruit, lemongrass, pine, and tropical fruit. Flavor shows tons of citrus along with bright tangerine, moderate caramel, and toffee. Definitely more hop forward with a nice malt backbone. Really delicious!

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours opaque red-amber with a thick light tan head. Aroma is sweet malts and faint pine hops. Wow. The malts and hops are on equal footing with this one! The first taste is chalky thick malts. Everything seems to come together in the mid palate - an interesting malt/hop blend. The hops really show in the finish with an insidious bitterness. Awesome red ale!!
