4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 50belair (149) - Florida, USA - AUG 20, 2010
An uber kool label adorns this bomber I just received. Topped the old Val Dieu snifter off with this decadent crude which bubbled up a small tan head. The nose was big vanilla, coffee, and bitter chocolate. The taste is fantastic. Big semi sweet chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavors sweep over the decks followed by a dark roasted malt finish. What an amazing brew.....

Bottle shared by SoLan. Pours black with a brown head. Nose is big vanilla and bitter coffee flavors and roasty malts. Flavors are coffee, roasty, dark fruits, and slight vanilla with a nice hoppy finish. Nice beer if you love coffee. Great beer.

22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown in color with a small wispy beige head. The aroma is as advertised: coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. Deep roasted malts and hints of dark fruits are also present. The flavor has the roasted malts being more prominent. Ample chocolate, coffee and vanilla make for an enjoyable experience. This gets better as it warms. Earthy bitteerness with a touch of char come out. Finish is dry roasted vanilla coffee. Medium-full body and scary smooth. Absolutely no sign of the ABV.
Enjoyed 7/30/09 (and again on Fri. bus RBSG 10)

Shared on the RBSG bus. Pours a deep black with a decent head that leaves some lace on the glass. The aroma is all things black molasses, chocolate, lots of raw coffee bean, some raisins, and some vanilla. The flavor is chocolate and vanilla with some coco bitterness and deep roasty tones with a mild booziness.

Bottle, on the Friday Bus Trip at RBSG 2010. Pours cola brown, moderate off-white head, poor lacing. Nose is spicy hops, almost oriental in terms of aroma, with notes of ginger, pepper and 5-spice coasting above the expected coffee, roast, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is akin to chocolate syrup, plus the earlier spiciness, and more coffee. Needs time, but still plenty good right now.
