Holy Java! I can taste the coffee in my colon! It’s like a coffee enema. It’s like Starbucks and Anna Nicole Smith rolled into one. Coffee aroma and flavor was off the hook. When it came to the flavor it was chocolate too. This Black beer didn’t have much head after being drawn from O’Brien’s but I didn’t hold that against it. What a great beer. Wonderful. Is this considered Baltic Porter or does Porter cover it.... Anyway, what a great beer! Did I already say that? Huh must be the 12%... I asked the server for cream and sugar and a cardboard sleeve. I guess I will be here instead of Starbucks tomorrow morning. What a great Beer.

Draft at the brewey. Pours black with a medium light tan head. Smells pretty roasty, big on the coffee and chocolate malts. Really dug the nose on this brew. A little roasty with the big coffee. The flavor was very chocolatey with that big coffee notes coming through as well. Pretty full bodied. Just a touch of some tartness in the finish which was unusual, but didnt take away from it at all. I dug this one.

On tap at Ballast Point during the RBSG Pub Crawl Tour on 08/01/2008. Dark black body with a small tan head. Big coffee and cream aroma. Huge coffee flavor with some light caramel. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2008. Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain, coffee, caramel, chocolate, hazelnut), with a note of vanilla. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pretty lovely stuff other than the mouthfeel. Enormous malt nose that is brimming with a really sexy hazelnut coffee aroma (no stale grounds here!). Great flavor balance, intense. Mouthfeel is a little light, but it’s acceptable. Very well hidden alcohol. Great stuff overall.

On tap @ brewery, RBSG. Black pour, nice dark tan head. Bitter roast and brewed coffee aroma. Heavy bitter roast taste that is rich and stays short of astringent. Nice dry finish with a lot of coffee flavor. I didn’t realize it was 12% until just now. Wow.

RBSG 2008, on tap at the brewery. Pours black with a tan head and red hues at the edges. Very roasty aroma, fresh espresso and coffee flavors. Flavor like a nice coffee ice cream, smooth and delicious. I had no idea this was 12%, you can’t taste it.
