COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

The vanilla / coffee combination is not unpleasant, but it can be overpowering. This is a beer to be enjoyed once, but cannot be drunk over an evening. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pitch black with a relatively lasting coffee brown head leaving lots of lacing. Aroma of vanilla, coffee, chocolate. Similar flavours, some liquorice and dark fruits coming through. Slick oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

355 ml bottle from Club de Cervezas Pours an almost jet black color with some brownish hues visible against a strong light source. Head is medium, light brown/dark tan colored, with medium retention but a fine lingering lacing. Aroma is luscious and smooth with notes of cocoa powder, oak wood, vanilla, raw coffee beans, wet earth and a touch of moccha. Not a trace of phenols with a 10% ABV, it’s amazing. Taste is relatively sweet, vanilla overtones with oaky and roasty bitterness. Moderate intensity but well rounded and carefully brewed. Medium body, no alcohol in the taste either. Low carbonation. Woody and dry finish. Highly sessionable and not boozy at all. It’s a fine, characterful, well defined Imperial Porter, yet not the best brew by Ballast Point.

Aroma is high quality vanilla extract and coffee with some dark chocolate. Outstanding appearance - flat black with a mocha colored head. Taste is bitter dark chocolate with heavy coffee and vanilla undertones. Palate was a little watery; really the only unimpressive aspect of this beer. Very well done.

Bottle. It pours very dark brown with a bubbly beige head. The aroma is coffee and vanilla with sweet roasted notes. Some nuts. The flavor is sweet and roasted with coffee and bitter malty. Quite strong vanilla notes.
