Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

A dark crimson pour with generous head and visible carbonation. Huge vanilla smell, together with coffee, chocolate, cocoa and caramel. The taste is quite complex and perfectly balanced, with vanilla up front, followed by coffee, alcohol spiciness and malt sweetness blended together with a soft bitterness. The soft carbonation makes for a very nice mouth-feel. Medium-dry finish with a strong vanilla feel that lasts on the palate. One of the best porters around, and I am quite picky about my porters.

Served on tap at the Beer Market in Vernon Hills. Arrived in a snifter. Very dark black, oily liquid with a deep, low, dense tan head. Aroma has a strong coffee nose with hefty chocolate and toasted malt notes. Flavor is extremely complex with a very early coffee flavor but it is quickly combined with a sweet chocolate, smooth toasted maltiness and with a smooth vanilla/ice cream finish. Body is very oily and extremely hefty. Overall one of the better beers I have had in a long time. Very well crafted and worth the time to find.

Bomber bottle, thanks to Bytemesis, poured like motor oil. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and booze. Flavor is silky vanilla cocoa. I want some more.

A nice oil slick of a treat! I’ve tried this multiple times, but only rating now for some reason. It is not quite exceptional, but the combo of sweet malts and acidic, dry coffee roast do blend together nicely. At the finish, the vanilla hits pretty hard! It is noticeable, it is not a cheap afterthought! Very happy to try, again. 220z bomber

650ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black in colour with a foamy beige head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of coffee beans, vanilla, roasted, smoke and chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, roast malt, toffee, molasses, coffee, vanilla, with booze and grassy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry spicy roasted malt finish. Very drinkable.
