Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Aroma is vanilla ,chocolate, mocha and toffee. Taste is rich malts, caramel, toffee and vanilla. Very light tartiness on tip but overall very well balanced. Light clove and coffee notes. Appearance is black with a medium beige head that retains fairly well.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer and Beyond shop. Brown black color with a huge tan head. Aroma of espresso, cocoa, mocha, dark chocolate, vanilla and roasted malt. Flavor of sweet malt, dark chocolate, tons of black coffee, licorice, vanilla, bitter roasty finish. Medium-full bodied, smooth and oily palate. Great brew.

Aroma: Light vanilla Appearance: Thinner head than I expected, deep, muddy Taste: mocha, still searching for the vanilla, BOLD roasted coffee Palate: mouthy, thick-ish, but not overwhelmingly so Overall: Very nice, but not quite as good as I expected, given the comments. The roasted coffee flavor dominated this one and I definitely got more of a mocha flavor than vanilla here. Still, a strong dark beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer and Beyond, Tel Aviv. Opaque brown with brownish head. The aroma has lots of coffee, vanilla, creamy with roasted malt. Bitterish and sweetish flavor with lots of coffee, coffee beans, vanilla, milk chocolate, a bit "green", lingering coffee bitterness. Full-bodied. Great.

Bottle split two ways. Pitch black pour with a frothy espresso head. Loads of milky chocolate, light roast, caramel, vanilla, freshly roasted coffee and some light honey. Super smooth!

Pour is a dark forbidden coloring with a light but creamy head. Smell is black coffee, roast, sweet caramel and burnt sugar. Extremely nice mouth feel, very creamy and perfect for drinking slow or fast. Coffee balanced with caramel and salt, some spice is hiding in there and some interesting vanilla subnotes. Extremely good.

I’d wager that it’s impossible not to be impressed by this beer -- it’s just such a full-on assault on your senses that you don’t even have a choice. It’s big, complex, and chewy, and it’s loaded with coffee and roasted grain flavor. It’s boozy and intoxicating without being hot or harsh. I know that Ballast Point sold out and all of that, but c’mon -- this beer deserves it’s reputation.
