Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Dark black color with thin light brown ring of a head an little lacing. Aroma and flavor have deep chocolatey, cocoa, coffee and vanilla notes. Very smooth but bold, and tasty!

Nice deep dark almost jet black body. Espresso, chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma, with some essence of hops. Taste is of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate.

(Ballast Point Victory at Sea) 650 ml bottle at home, served into a snifter, ABV 10%, bottled Dec. 5 2013 Totally black colour on the body with two fingers of thick, brown head on top, with very good retention. The coffee aroma is still strong, so is the vanilla, faint roasted malts, but actually coffee at first and vanilla right afterwards dominate the aroma. Taste has also lots and lots of vanilla, cold coffee, coffee grounds, roasted malts more noteble now, the alcohol pretty well hidden. Medium body with good carbonation, nicely dry on the palate. Very good and amazingly easy to drink.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2016 Love the vanilla coffee that doesn’t taste like vanilla or coffee, but much deeper. This is an instant favorite for me.

From the MacBoost rotter. Dark pour with tan head. Coffee and vanilla hit the nose, some roasted malts, and bread. Taste is a robust coffee/vanilla flavor, very slight bitterness and zero detection of alcohol. Medium mouthful. Great beer served to the masses. Would recommend to others.

Mörk malt, rostad malt, kaffe, choklad, salt?, lagom beska. Tyvärr lite mycket alkohol i doft och smak - ska testa lagra nån flaska och se om de blir bättre. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bot. First I hesitated at 12 midnight to drink this then I blew the cork. Big black gentle pour. First taste evolves to be quite rude nasty bitter and volatile. Yes, it’s a masterpiece alright, a big in yer face masterpiece of a high alky ass kicking boozy beer. Its a blowhard black beer. Reminds me in many respects to a boozy high alky black ipa, yeah. Same with finish, perhaps this would age well. Yeash a little aging may round out this bullshit imperial black ipa bullshit...... oh, I almost forgot, since its such a dizzying beer, there’s coffee in thar 2! heheheh

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a full bubbly natural tan head. Aromas of coffee, minerals, and roasted malts. Flavors of chocolate, dark caramel , acidic coffee, and mild roasted malts. Nicely balanced. Smooth and very good!

Didn’t care much for the peppermint seasonal version this past winter - too much going on. And, getting burned out on coffee flavored stouts and porters. But... this is pretty good stuff. Pours very dark with minimal tan head. Aroma is that of an espresso bean wrapped in a vanilla pod. Flavor is similar with more sweet vanilla both complementing the roasty toastedness This is extremely smooth mouthfeel and slightly sweet finish.

Dark with mahogany edges, beautifully textured beige head that lingered thin on top. Big aroma, chocolate, vanilla, mint, roasted malts....rolled nicely over the tongue. Came together nicely, taste of a chocolate frango, pleasant finish, small notes of Kahlua. Turned breadier with warmth. Excellent.
