Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Brilliant. Opaque brown/black with towering cappuccino colored head. Memorizing cascades as the co2 releases during pour. Head flows over like coffee whipped cream. Aroma of coffee ice cream, vanilla bean, chocolate nibs, toffee, some dried fruit. Taste is aroma x 10. Delicious. Needs to warm from fridge to let flavor shine. Long bittering finish that’s not too dry. Seems more like dark chocolate than hops bittering. Just wonderful. I’d love to see Victory and Ballast Point merge this and Stormking Stout as a collab.

12 oz bottle- nice head on the pour. Slightly acrid coffee smell with hint of vanilla. Hefty coffee and can feel the 10% abv. Not much malty sweetness but good like that dark chocolate bar.

bottle @ home. Cellared 2,5 years. Almost black with a beige to brown head. Considering the age it has retained a very fresh coffee character in both aroma and taste. Aroma is complex, medium roasted with dark fruits, vanilla, milk chocolate, coffee, vinous raisins, warming booze, oak and some caramel and herbs. Sweet yet quite dry taste with a dry coffee roast and booze finish that clashes somewhat with the stong grape bitterness. Flavors of subtle vanilla, toffee, dark chocolate, raisins, some plum and red fruits, leather, booze. Lingering vanilla, char. Has aged very well.

12oz bottle into pint glass. Very dark brown, almost black. Dark beige head, big bubbles. Vanilla coffee nose. More astringent than I expect from a porter in the mouth. The alcohol peeks through a bit. On the swallow, the malts and richness briefly pops out, before fading into vanilla and a bit of brown sugar. Think I’d like it more if the alcohol were dialed back a touch and the coffee didn’t taste quite so much like Satrbucks’ usual burnt offerings.

Bold coffee aroma. Black body with a soap bubble-like tan head. A prominent coffee flavored taste. The vanilla is subtle and balances the coffee well.

22 oz bomber purchased from Habits cig and booze shop in Salem OR $7.99 Darkest brown coloured ale with a very attractive thick and creamy tan coloured head. Aromas of creamy coffee ( if that’s even possible)..infused with vanilla..and toasted malts..excellent. Taste the same creamy darker roast coffee..followed by vanilla ice cream and finishes with sea salt dark chocolate bitterness. Nice thick and luscious mouth feel..batter after taste and a touch of alcohol. Very very good porter.

12 oz bottle into a snifter. Pours a cola brown with a small tan head. Strong, slightly bitter coffee up front with chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, and a little bit of hops on the backend. Long finish of roasted malts and coffee. Full body, slightly creamy texture, moderate carbonation. Definitely really good, but ultimately not really any better than most other coffee porters or stouts on the market. Not enough to justify the $15.99 price for a 6-pack that is being charged here locally.
