Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Bottle. Pours smooth, thick black with hints of Amber. Nice thick head. Lots of coffee, chocolate and vanilla in aroma and taste. Surprisingly well balanced, with high carbonation which gives you a fresh mouth feel and extremely high drinkability. The only words I'm a say today are "beer", and "thank you" :) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Systembolaget. Ar: coffee upfront, ashy, dry, heavy roastiness, then vanilla kicks in, subtle, but noticable, ABV very well hidden, chocolate cake, nutty, very refined. Ap: black colour, medium beige head, lacing. T: big bite, lots of sweet vanilla, light acidity, heavy roastiness. Best vanilla infused flavour I’ve had to date, salty. P: full bodied, soft carbonation, sweet, warming and roasty finish. O: marvelous.

2013-10-10. Black body with a modest tan head. 3++ Aroma of coffee has an almost hot pepper like quality to it that I do not care for, muted vanilla character. Flavour is similar with a sweet malt core and an odd melange of coffee and vanilla that has similar pepper like overtones as in the aroma. Smooth average plus bodied palate, peasant carbonation. 3+ Decent but a bit disappointing for me personally. Bottle shared by Blankboy.

22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, a little smokiness, some chocolate notes, and a light bitterness. Flavor the same with a great blend of everything. Average texture. A good imperial porter.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2014 Bottle: Deep obsidian color, very deep brown at the edges. Fine-bubbled, tan head that fades quicker than expected. Aroma is blasting with heavily roasted coffee beans; burnt, scorched, charred, ashy. Super roasty and even quite bitter. Lightly sweet vanilla aroma with some deeper, dark cocoa underneath the oily coffee beans. Taste is roasted, charred, burnt & oily coffee beans from left to right; intense French Roast beans. Lightly sweet vanilla coats mid-palate with a hint of charcoal and ash in the finish. Super dark and roasty plays well with the tiny amount of vanilla sweetness. I’m a fan of bitter-roast over sticky-sweet in many cases. This porter is a winner for me.
