COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

For porters you don’t get much better than this. Nice roasted coffee aroma. Deep dark color with medium brown head. Nice mouthfeel of medium weight. Carbonation was just right. Great roasted malt flavor with coffee being more dominant than the vanilla. Well rounded with a mild hops bitterness. Greatness.

A near-perfect coffee imperial stout. Huge chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and caramel flavors, all held together with robust roasted malt and some hops so it’s not TOO sweet. Pretty strong vanilla presence, which I don’t always like but is well balanced by the coffee here. A perfect beer with most desserts or even alone as a nightcap sipper in the wintertime.

Great choice. Delicious coffee bean aroma, made me want to just smell it rather than drink it. Vanilla and coffee flavours very rich and strong.

Aroma is chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is same plus some burn sugar, green pepper, and a lingering roastyness. Sweet mid-palate but dry on the finish. SUPER!

Not a huge fan of coffee porters, but it won me over. Super mocha/carmely, creamy aroma, absolutely delightful. Color is an impenetrable black with a light amber head. Tastes almost just how it smells, a little more coffee comes through; no boozy flavor whatsoever. Perfect for a wintery beverage to sip on through the morning or night.

22oz bottle poured into a cervoise. The aroma is initially fresh coffee beans which turn towards a roasted coffee / mocha character. This is followed by briefly by fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with a notable vanilla and caramel characters. The coffee beans come back later as a secondary note to the vanilla and caramel. It pours a dark, opaque blackish color with hints of oily, burnt caramel around the edges, and is topped by a brown-orange frothy head that retains a thick ring and big, poofy island, as well as an abundant, dense lacing. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium high bitterness, nearly balanced, but it’s definitely a stronger bitter. The slick and thick texture has a creamy carbonation with a touch of prickliness. The full body starts out with smooth syrupy caramel flavored with vanilla. Then some cookie-like sugariness comes through and it finishes with espresso bitterness and a woody, gritty quality. The coffee character lingers, turning more towards coffee grounds, with hints of vanilla coming in and out.

Bottled. Thanks Noize for the share. The aroma has big vanilla and moccha. Black coloured beer with a thin, beige head. The taste is sweet, slightly bitter, has moccha, vanilla, toffee, some roast. Very full and tasty. Great desert beer. I just don’t like it when they talk about ’Imperial porter’. It is nonsense, just the same as imperial stout.
