Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2014 Pours dark with a tan head. Right off the bat, there are chocolate sweet roast aromas. Full bodied flavors with a very distinct vanilla flavor throughout the drink. Amazing!

Aroma is chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is same plus some burn sugar, green pepper, and a lingering roastyness. Sweet mid-palate but dry on the finish. SUPER!

Not a huge fan of coffee porters, but it won me over. Super mocha/carmely, creamy aroma, absolutely delightful. Color is an impenetrable black with a light amber head. Tastes almost just how it smells, a little more coffee comes through; no boozy flavor whatsoever. Perfect for a wintery beverage to sip on through the morning or night.

22oz bottle poured into a cervoise. The aroma is initially fresh coffee beans which turn towards a roasted coffee / mocha character. This is followed by briefly by fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with a notable vanilla and caramel characters. The coffee beans come back later as a secondary note to the vanilla and caramel. It pours a dark, opaque blackish color with hints of oily, burnt caramel around the edges, and is topped by a brown-orange frothy head that retains a thick ring and big, poofy island, as well as an abundant, dense lacing. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium high bitterness, nearly balanced, but it’s definitely a stronger bitter. The slick and thick texture has a creamy carbonation with a touch of prickliness. The full body starts out with smooth syrupy caramel flavored with vanilla. Then some cookie-like sugariness comes through and it finishes with espresso bitterness and a woody, gritty quality. The coffee character lingers, turning more towards coffee grounds, with hints of vanilla coming in and out.

Enjoyable coffee imperial porter. Tasty and smelly. Of greatness. This beer stands out above the rest.

Bottled. Thanks Noize for the share. The aroma has big vanilla and moccha. Black coloured beer with a thin, beige head. The taste is sweet, slightly bitter, has moccha, vanilla, toffee, some roast. Very full and tasty. Great desert beer. I just don’t like it when they talk about ’Imperial porter’. It is nonsense, just the same as imperial stout.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Aroma of roasted coffee with hints of vanilla. Pours a pitch black with minimal tan head that dissipates rapidly. Flavor is very smooth. Very creamy and coffee like. Alcohol is masked extremely well. Great beer, would suggest....it’s up there with Bell’s java stout.

[5915-20131010] 650mL bottle. Chocolate roast and light vanilla wood aroma. Black body with a quick foamy mocha head. Chocolate roast and bitter coffee malt flavour. Full body. Delicious. (10/4/8/4/16) 4.2

Pours jet black, smelling strongly of coffee beans with a small tan head. "Robust" is one way of putting it, extreme taste of coffee up-front with a sweet vanilla taste after. Notes of malt, earthy grain and dark chocolate. Its very good but that comes with a powerful taste, also if you don’t like coffee I doubt you would enjoy this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from the bottle into a snifter. Pours a dark brown/black with a beautiful creamy dark tan head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, and caramel. Taste is the much the same with a nice subtle hop presence to it. Medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation and a velvety mouth feel. A very robust full flavored beer with a nice dryness in the end, Outstanding!

Bomber to a tulip. It pours nearly jet black with a huge beige head that takes a whlile to shrink down, leaving nice lacing. Aroma is dark roast coffee, vanilla bean, and chocolate. Very nice. Taste is coffee, cream, vanilla bean, rich chocolate, cocoa, and roasted dark malt flavors. Mouthfeel is very creamy and sticky. It leaves a fantastic aftertaste that reminds me of a good cappuccino. One of the best beers I’ve had this year, outstanding.
