COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two of the worldís oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Dark as the sea bottom producing a sizable head. Strong aromas of coffee and toasted vanilla beans. Full body with excellent carbonation. Copious amounts of roasted coffee and cocoa drowned the senses while a neon vanilla flashes life into a lifeless Davey Jones. This is a meal to be rationed sparingly. I hold my chalice high in honor of those who were victorious at sea. Arrhh! Trumpola!

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2012 Simply one of the best out there. As expected the nose is dominated by fresh roasted coffee, a dash of herb-like woodiness and the subtle presence of vanilla. Pours black with some brown hues if held to the light. Off-white foam bordering on a light tan. Taste matches the aromas. Up front there is a lively dose of roasted coffee with a dash of chocolate. The coffee really livens up your palate. The finish is full of dark chocolates and earthy hops which balance this beer nicely. Feels like a porter should on the palate. Full bodied but not syrupy, nice carbonation. Get your hands on this, it is amazing. One of my favorite beers.

This is the best imperial Porter Iíve tasted. Its big, bold, sweet, and marries the flavors of coffee and vanilla very well. I cant say enough good things about this beer. My only complaint is that all you can tase after this beer is sweet vanilla and coffee.

Poured from a 22oz/650ml bottle into a growler (drank Aprí12) , thanks to Bruce for packing this in his case and shifting it 6,000 miles for me!!! Looks a real treat - pours a rich black with a decent beige/tan head after a straight glass/vigourous pour into a Belgian snifter. Head thins after a minute but retains. Lots of lacing above the beer line. Served at room temperature. Great smelling beer - coffee hits you immediately and when you withdraw your nose and savour the full spectrum you get the vanilla breaching through, sweet chocolate and malts. Everything I want from an Imperial Porter in the taste! Chocolate, coffee, sweet and roasted malts and a decent hunk of vanilla in there. Iíve had a few vanilla porters where you just donít get that íVí hit, but here you have no choice !!! A well balanced beer packing flavours and strength but disguising them all well. The mouthfeel is perfection for a beer of this ilk. Full bodied with a little carbonation, every mouthful makes you return. One of the best beers Iíve had and in my favourite style - the all 5 rating is a real one off but for me this is how it should be as it is right up there for me!!!

Comes out of the bottle a rich sable just a skeezix above black with a thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Rich, smoky aroma has notes of sweet chocolate, fine coffee, vanilla and caramel and just a hint of molasses. Mouth-filling flavor delights the palate with roast malt, chocolate, nutty, vanilla, coffee and caramel tones with more than a hint of bitter, woody hops. Each sip seems to be subtly different. Itís a little like drinking cold quality coffee that has a kick like an angry mule. Smooth, rich texture has a firm tingle that persists; finish is smoky, hoppy and a little chocolate-sweet. I havenít given out a perfect score in some time. Love the bottle - Iíll keep it and use it as a Halloween decoration. (Yes, I use beer bottles for Halloween deco!)

I am hesitant to give a beer a higher rating then on my favorites but that is exactely what I have done. This is just like drinking a chocolate vanilla frappuccino made out of awesome beer. Unbelievable a great porter all the way around. Hope I can get more of it

Poured into a snifter from a 22 ounce bottle un-dated.

A: Beautiful pitch black body with a dense tan head that compliments this perfectly. This beer simply looks amazing.

S: This smells absolutely wonderful, thereís a perfect balance of vanilla and fresh roasted coffee here, reminds me a lot of vanilla cake actually with coffee. This is wonderful, my only complaint is wishing it were a tad stronger.

T: Absolutely wonderful, thereís bready vanilla flavor into a silky rich cocoa coffee flavor. Itís as if Iím sipping on a mocha cappuccino with some vanilla flavoring. This is complex, intense, and very easy to drink.

M: Thick and syrupy with light carbonation, this is filling and feels great.

O: This is hands down the best porter Iíve ever had, I have no complaint with this and will be buying one every time I find one.

Pours dark and has a caramel head. Taste has hints of coco, coffee and vanilla. This is now one of my new favorites.
