COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Pours a pitch black colour with a rocky mocha head. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee with a slight vanilla undertone. Taste is sweet with a dry bitterness throughout; nice and balanced taste. Full body, creamy thick mouth feel, and soft carbonation. A really nice beer overall.

12 oz bottle: Now available in 6 packs! :) Great looking, with a frothy tan head that leaves lovely lacing and has great retention. Aroma: coffee, dark roasted grains, vanilla and alcohol, in that order. Flavor: initially more subdued coffee allowing a nicely balanced mix, but the coffee does build at the end and build with repeated sipping. Vanilla is subtle.

Poured from bottle at 54F. Pours a dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Head leaves lots of lacing. Aroma - cocoa nibs, coffee, smoked green chile. Taste - holy cow big; dark chocolate, dark coffee, alcohol and a touch of vanilla. Mouthfeel is rich and a touch oily. It is a bit too big and coffee-centered for me.

Lovely monster. Appearance is a large tan, slow to settle, thick head with lots of lace and and opaque black brown color. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, roast malt, leather, black earth, dank forest, cement. Flavor’s similar to nose, fairly dry, just enough tang and bitter to balance and then a hint of sweet in the finish. Body is just right. Long finish. Nary a hint of strength.

Holy gadzooks batman, this stuff rocks. I feel an urge to watch old WW2 movies about victory at Coral Sea and Midway. Lots of bitter coffee, mocha, black walnuts and buncha other stuff. Loved it.

Pours black with a large tan head. Aroma of vanilla, roasted malt and very soft coffee. Flavours include more vanilla and a fair bit of sweet malt. A fair whack of coffee too.

12oz Pours an impenetrable black with a small tan head. Smell of coffee beans and vanilla, with some other complexities. Is thick bodied and relatively well carbonated. Dark coffee flavors dominate and make for a bitter, dry beer. Alcohol is well hidden by bitterness, not much vanilla when tasting just bitter coffee. Very solid and impressive for 10%.

Deep brown pour. Smoky coffee aromas with some background bitterness. Sweet on sipping. Chewy palate. Dry finish. Coffee and vanilla syrup. Slightly medicinal finish.

Bomber. Pours a virtually opaque brownish-black, frothy espresso colored head with excellent retention and lacing. Nose is a massive wallop of coffee beans, leather, wood, roasted barley, hint of vanilla. Mouth is oily and coffee forward, bittersweet, vanilla, brown sugar, undertones of dried fruit, earthiness, leather. Finishes a touch hot (ABV on this one is prominent... might grab another bottle to cellar -- which at $7.99 is a no-brainer!).

Pours a completely opaque black with a nice, big and lasting creamy beige head. Aroma is coffe and vanilla with some liquorice. Flavor is boozy coffee with a rich vanilla sweetness, but never overwhelming or burning, kind of drinkable for its weight. Medium to heavy palate, complex layered, great sipping imperial porter.

From a bottle into a snifter. Huge hit of coffee and vanilla, some chocolate. Medium body, slightly oily, medium carbonation, medium sweetness. Long finish with tons of vanilla. Pretty easy to drink, very enjoyable.
