COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ballast Point Wahoo Wheat Beer is created using the same ingredients that were once used in Belgium. Flaked unmalted wheat, oats and malted barley comprise the grain. The unmalted wheat has a high protein content, which causes the beer to be hazy, thus giving it a cloudy, or "white" appearance. A special yeast gives a refreshing tangy flavor that is different from both the sour Weiss beers of Berlin or the banana and clovey Weizens of Bavaria. The mild hopping allows the unique malts to show through and does not conflict with the subtleties of the citrus spicing. This unique citrus character is created by adding a blend of curacao (bitter orange), sweet orange and coriander to the boil. White beers are light and refreshing, yet provide a complex reminder that interesting high quality beer does not have to be bitter and dark. Ballast Point Wahoo Wheat Beer is the perfect beer for sunny San Diego.

Bottle from Pizza Port Bottle Shop. Pours golden with only a slight cloudiness to it. Not much on the nose. I can’t say I’m getting a ton of flavor out of this one. Not my favorite Ballast Point.

Pretty Average wheat beer, lacking flavor, a bit watery, actually barely tastes like a beer, its drinkable but not that great...I usually like this brewer so a bit of a letdown.

Appearance: light hazy gold, shot fizzy white head. Aroma: light citrus, yeast, pears, saltine crackers, and a bit of funk. Taste: light tangy wheat, citrus, coriander, hint of banana. Finish: watery end, with some citrus notes lasting. Notes: Poor example of the style. Light flavors, watery palate.

Bottle: Pale gold color with a fizzy white head and tons of bubbles rising to the top like champagne. Funky aroma of yeast and grain. Watery feel with a pretty mild taste. Nothing really stands out. Boring.

22oz bottle. Slightly hazy light aroma and a quick fizzy white head. Very faint light aroma of belgian yeast and wheat. Pale almost watery flavor. Was really hoping for more here.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow colour with a thin white head. Aroma is similar to a pale lager with a little bit of banana and clove; some yeast scents too. Taste is mildly sweet and more bitter than a typical wheat beer. Light body, thin on the palate, and lively carbonation. Overall an average but enjoyable wheat beer.

22oz bottle. Bright gold pour with a nice white layer of tight bubbles. Bright citrus and spicy wheat grain. Flavor is a little sweet and bright on the tongue with grainy citrusy finish. Definitely not a german wheat, but a bold flavorful American wheat.

Tap @ brewery. Pours cloudy golden with a small creamy lacing white head. Aroma is wheat spicy some bananas. Flavor is thin watery spicy ... Wher’re all the spices?
