3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy gold. Outstanding head volume, very poor lacing and retention.
Outstanding nose of coriander with hints of wheat coupled with orange.
Heavy light body with a bit of smoothness in the texture. Slightly below normal carbonation with a hint of effervescence in the middle and a fair burst in the finish.
The outstanding flavor profile is a bit weak on intensity, fairly complex and perfectly balanced. It begins with a moderate sensation of slightly spicy coriander that adds orange undertones as it progresses towards the middle. The middle produces a balancing biscuit that just hints at sweetness. The finish is a slow fade of subtle orange.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a cloudy gold with moderately lasting, dense white head. Aromas of grain, wheat, coriander and hints of citrus. Some floral notes that hit me as chamomile that you sometimes find in a wit but could just be in my head. A quick rousing of the head produces some bready yeast aromas. Flavours are clean with a wheat maltiness being the predominant flavour. Hints of citrus and a light sour tang in the finish. Very light body and a decent amount of carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Is it just me, or does it seem like less American breweries are making witbier these days? I donít know why since they tend to be so light and refreshing Ė they definitely have crossover appeal for the mainstream. Ballast Point Wahoo White is one of the best American examples of the style I can recall: true to form, tasty, and easy to drink. Plus the price is right, too. Why are we just now getting this beer here?
I poured a 12oz can into a flared snifter. It was canned on 7/11/15 and a six-pack cost $12.49 ($2.08 per can or $0.17 per ounce).
Appearance: A very hazy shade of bright yellow/pale orange. Pours to an average-sized, white, soapy head which mostly dissipates and leaves some lacing.
Smell: Orange fruit with noticeable wheat and a lightly sweet cereal scent.
Taste: Thereís a light tartness up front akin to that found in orange juice. In fact, thereís a lot of orange flavor to be found in this beer due to its use of orangepeel in the brewing process. Wheat and oatmeal also create for a bit of a slight cracker character and a cereal sweetness. Coriander quickly follows right at the crest of the swig and imparts a quick spicy note. It complements the orange flavor quite nicely. Additional orange and coriander flavors on the backend, but everything fades away quickly and completely. I would not consider this a particularly complex palette, nor even a strong one, but I will say itís a good-tasting brew.
Drinkability: The word ďcrushableĒ gets thrown around a lot as marketing hyperbole these days, even though few truly deserve that term. Ballast Point Wahoo White absolutely does, though, since itís light and crisp, yet genuinely refreshing in the mouth. The calm carbonation makes it very smooth going down and the clean finish means it doesnít leave you parched. At only 4.5% Iím quite impressed by the amount of flavor here and I definitely consider it a candidate for a summer session beer especially considering the fact it comes in cans.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In my opinion itís hard to take a wit and make it a standout, memorable beer. I do however believe they made a solid effort on this one. Cloudy pale yellow color with a wheat forward aroma. Thicker body with lemon and orange peel, and a wheaty finish. Came of as refreshing to me, with a just right amount of spice in the finish. Overall a tasty beer to me.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Iím sorry Ballast, Iím just not interested. It is another cloudy, uninteresting, flavorless Witt. Not so much the brew masterís fault-- it is just a style that is unappealing to me. Not even refreshing to me. 12oz bottle.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Nose coriander, wheat, lemon, orange peel, touch cracker/malt, bubblegum, inviting. Golden pour, strongly effervescent with an ephemeral white head. Oily and wheaten full body, crisp but a little flabby in its weight, some nice gentle bread character, wheat slime, bright citrus, touch spice, faint tang, phenolics are still there and not bad. Tending sweet, very faint bitterness, overall bold and flavorful without tipping extreme in any category. Enjoyed.
