csbosox (948), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Apr 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Aroma is pils malt & spicy hops. Light golden color, excellent clarity, a small but persistent head. Taste is pils malt, a little biscut, spicy/woodsy hops, and a faint touch of wheat. Well balanced with a nice maltiness and a fair amount of bitterness. A summer session beer.
LilBeerDoctor (300), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light orange with a small head. Aroma of light wheat and Kolsch malts, some light fruits. Flavor starts off with a sharp, spicy initial bite followed by Kolsch malts, apple, pear, rhubarb, champagny notes. Very light, very tasty. Good beer, although as noted below, the name is quite misleading. fredandboboflo (306), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Ok, so, why the hell would they title this a pale ale? I understand they talk about its origins on the bottle, but the impression remains that it’s going to be an American/English pale ale with a twist. This makes for some odd impressions upon drinking. All that said, I enjoyed it, and I’ll get to the rating part in a moment, but what a stupid thing to name a beer that you’re trying to sell. /Rant. Ok, so, like I was saying, bottle. Aroma of very Kolschy malts, some spicy hops. Flavor develops more champagniness that I always attribute to kolsches in addition to the continued mild spicy hops, crisp malts. Dry, very light, but not weak, very refreshing. I want to take off points because I had this as part of a mini pale ale flight, but I’ll be good natured about it. But seriously, if anybody at the brewery is reading this, CHANGE THE NAME. Indra (1818), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 14, 2008 12oz. bottle. Crackery, doughy, grainy malt aroma, along with tinges of herbal hop here and there. Clear light-medium golden in color with a fine, subsiding head. Flavor is likewise predominantly malty, cereal-like and very lightly sweet, along with tinges of lemony citrus and spicy, leafy hop bitterness, finishing dry and malty. Palate is thin and moderately effervescent, Certainly quite easy to drink, if fairly dull. I’m a bit confused as to how this could ever be considered a Pale Ale, though, seems to be a pretty obvious misnomer. General_Gao (2368), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 13, 2008 12oz bottle. The aroma was of citrus fruit (especially lemon) and biscuity malt. Kind of like a lemon scone. There was also a whiff of noble hops. Poured a clear golden color. The head was fluffy and white with good retention and lacing. Delicately sweet and light bodied with a distinct noble hop flavor accompanied by the aforementioned biscuity malt. Refreshing. blutt59 (520), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 11, 2008 bottle, color is yellow gold with a very malty nose, flavor is a heavy fruit and honey with some lemon also, not as crisp as I would like
