COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s Note: Previously known as Yellowtail Pale Ale

The beer that launched Ballast Point. Our original Pale Ale is a rich golden brew, crafted with aromatic German hops and rounded out with a blend of American and Munich malts. While it’s hopped like a lager, we ferment it like an ale to create a smooth, bright taste that has just a hint of fruit and spice. It’s extremely drinkable, like a Kolsch should be, yet complex, like a good craft beer demands.

Bottle. Pours an attractive gold with a high pillowy head. Nose is mild with bready and savory notes. Fruity and savory up front, with a rich dry close. Good drinking beer.

Very smooth pale ale that has a good hoppy complex and light golden look. You can smell the hops flowing from the beer.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, bread, biscuit, some spice, touch of yeasty notes with a slight earthy note as well. Taste was slight cardboard, grain, bread, some slight yeast into a bit of fruit, touch of grass, finishing slightly bitter. Guessing this was old, will rerate with new bottle in future.

Can. Clear dark gold. Slight lemon aroma with bready grain. Taste adds a hint of pineapple, corn, and honey. Very pilsnery. BO aftertaste. Not very drinkable. I'm not a fan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz can. Pours deep golden with tall, long-lasting, fluffy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of Noble hops, bready malt and hint of citrus. Body is medium and smooth. Herbal hops and pale malt nicely balanced on the palate. Finish is medium, soft, slightly bitter. I could drink this whole day.

pours a slightly murky gold with a medium white head. Aroma is slightly skunky hay/grass. Taste is clean with some slight spice. Hint of lemon citrus. Not much hop presence. Some slight bitter fades in. Not bad.

I get a grainy and slightly sweet under notes from this orangy yellow but clear brew. It's a bit darker than a typical kolsch. It's kinda grainy like normal but it's overly sweet and the bitterness is a bit much in the aftertaste. It's a bit more full bodied than a typical as well. Overall it's not a bad brew but not a typical kolsch.

Low notes of pear like esters and floral hops. Appearance is a clear gold with a white head with average retention. Bready character in the flavor with notes of flowers. Mouthfeel is medium with radium high carbonation. Overall, I wouldn't call it a pale ale. It's a kolsch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Malty aroma. The taste is slightly fruity. Most watery. Minimal bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the upper part of the mouth briefly. Not at all impressed beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
